Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Oooh...cool! Ben Hur is on tonight!

Ben Hur is on tonight!Oh Boy! What channel? We're fixing to watch the Season premiere of Monk. It was on last night, but I was with Clare at Borders and missed it. I set it up to tape before I left.
To: SuziQ
It's on TCM but it started at 7:00. He just made it to Rome.
To: Overtaxed

I'm sorry. Baseball's not really my sport either. It can be fun if you're actually at a game, but to sit at home and watch it? Not me. College basketball is another story, though.
I picked up Ann Coulter's "Slander" to read on the plane next week, so I've been starting to read it.

Heh....
At least there are steaks coming off the grill soon.... That'll entertain me awhile!

Mmmm! Got mushrooms to go with them?
To: HairOfTheDog
I think I'll grab a bite to eat now too. Maybe there will be something to do by the time I get back.
To: ecurbh
Don't think there are any mushrooms but I saw some green beans and cornbread (lembas) being prepared.

Evening All; an excellent day, hole dug, frame made, set in place, leveled and 240 lbs of sand smoothed and watered several times. Another soaking and smoothing before dark and, with luck, we'll be laying bricks tomorrow.
Samantha tried to slither under the gate when the hole was dug and leveled. She had'nt counted on Sue being on the other side of the gate. Sam's expression was "Oh, Hi there, just checking things out, guess I'll get back to chasing squirrels" Grin, Grin, Wag, Wag.
We're off for her evening constitutional.

The race will be coming up pretty soon. I finished the dishes and am brewing some mint iced tea with WN's mint. I have some laundry that needs to be put in the dryer and the cat has me cat-trapped.
To: Overtaxed; HairOfTheDog
I'm still bored, and there's no getting out early tonight. :(
Finished chapter 1 of Slander already. At this rate, I'll finish it before the trip and will have to find something else to read on the plane.

Wow, quiet night...
Just got back from dinner and a movie... saw The Hulk, which was pretty good. Enjoyed it, anyway.
I must say, I've been impressed with the recent wave of movies based on Marvel comic book characters. There hasn't been a clunker in the bunch.
To: Bear_in_RoseBear
I'm not sure if I'll see Hulk or wait for DVD.
To: HairOfTheDog
But my exit will be more graceful than yours! yeah... but whatcha gonna do?... anyway... this is keepin' with my idiom... got'n image to maintain...
To: ecurbh
Hmm, while I enjoyed the movie, I don't think there was any "gotta see it" feeling to it... probably wouldn't hurt to wait until DVD.
The "rampage" scenes were pretty cool, and the twisted relationship between Bruce Banner and his father (played by Nick Nolte) was interesting. Also, they managed to stick in a Marvel villain that apparently none of the reviewers recognized. At least, no reviews that I read mentioned it.
Next comic book movie I'm waiting to see: Fantastic Four.

...Sam's expression was "Oh, Hi there, just checking things out... heh heh heh... a dog after my own heart...
sounds like you been workin' hard and makin' progress... my compliments sir... the challenge to our path project is that it can't be level... it's going to have to follow the slope of the ground... we'll just have to maintain the lay of the ground we're coverin'... course... maybe that'll make it easier... I dunno...
To: Bear_in_RoseBear
When is Fantastic Four coming out? I don't think I've heard about that one yet.
