The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Herbs are fun to grow! I can't wait for my kids to be a little older so that I can have more time. :)

I actually come to work to relax, if you can believe it! LOL!

That's it. I just remembered that there is a thrift store right by my house! YIPPEE!

Maybe I'll hit it this weekend for a couple of pairs of jeans that fit!

Well, keep in mind, I'm in a new place and only have one season going here. But, I've got rosemary, parsley, lemon verbena (lots), irises, calla lilies, evening primrose, fennel, spearmint, double-mint, thyme(it isn't doing well at all though), wormwood, salvia, pennyroyal, garlic, chives, applemint, orange mint, grapefruit mint, cilantro (hopefully that re-seeded itself), fenugreek and dill. Anyway, that's all I can think of right now. Oh, a rose bush. And like a said - pots of stuff that I haven't found homes for outside yet.

hehehe. I believe it!!! I remember it!!! I know, it requires me to have a looonnnngggg memory but I do remember.

I gardened a lot when my youngest was a baby. We lived in the country and there was not enough other stuff to get me out of the house. So, I gardened. She loved outside so I took her out - first in a playpen - then letting her toddle in the garden with play tools. And I gardened a quarter of an acre. That was about the only thing that kept me sane sometimes!

Now, I wish I could go thrift store shopping with you two after seeing some movie or another with the RoseBear family!

you did check with Rose so she knows about this too?

Oh yes... her job lets her use AOL Instant Messenger, so we stay in contact pretty much all day.

Yes, we can be there with time to spare by 7.

Ok, great! But, is there going to be any problem with the movie ending at ~10:30 pm? Don't want to leave you with a long drive home late at night!

I simply must get motivated and do just what you did.

Becky is 5, so she is old enough to actually help with the gardening. As soon as it warms up a bit, I should set up the playpen outside and let Alyson feel the sunshine!

I'm so tired most of the time, especially lately since Alyson is teething and doesn't sleep straight through usually. Poor thing!

Well, I am simply green with envy that you are having a mini moot this weekend with the RoseBear Duo.

So we are even. *grin*

Our SoFla mini moot isn't for 2 more weeks. *sigh*

Not a problem. Friday's I only have to work 2 hours. I will sleep late. Myranda gets out of school at 12:30. We'll leave here then.

Hadn't said anything but one of the reasons I've spent so much time in central Texas since I signed on here is that my Grama's health is not great. Had to take her back to the hospital in Temple a couple of days before New Year's day. She's at my mom's house in Temple right now. So, this gives us the perfect opportunity to check in on Grama again this weekend. :^D I love my Grama. :^D I think that's why I like being a granny so much.

I truly sympathize with that. I guess that's why I'd have to get outside. I really allow myself a lot to get cooped up indoors and then I get down and depressed and i eat too much and gain weight and feel worse.

Getting outside is the main thing that makes me feel better. :-)

I like games where there is lots of building and planning involved. Games like Age of Empires, Alpha Centauri, Civilization, and Empire Earth all involve starting out with one base and building up your "civilization" while fighting off rival civilizations. I used to like first-person shooter games like Doom, but they got so realistic that playing them made me motion-sick! I usually don't care for games with lots of puzzles like Myst... I don't have the patience for puzzle-solving. ;)

Yep! And this is so cool. And it pretty much just fell into place when we were talking the last 2 days. First we were talking about meeting at the drive-in picture show that Myranda and I like. But, the film ends there on Thursday night (interferes with our school) so Myranda and I are going to Austin to the place that serves food that Bear told us about there. I'm excited.

But, I have to go back to work now. And teach nasty studentses.

You mind-reader you!

It's rough the first year, even in the best circumstances. Mine are far from perfect, so it does tend to weigh heavy on me at times.

Thanks for the extra push of inspiration, WN! I needed that!

Well, I guess driving to Temple won't be as bad as driving all the way back to Wichita Falls.

Have you seen the menu on Alamo Drafthouse's website? :)

I always liked Civ better than Alpha Centauri, even though they are both by Sid Meier. AC is just a little to Greenpeacey for me, if you know what I mean.

I haven't graduated past Civ2 yet. I like those building games and turn based stuff. The real-time or first person, arcade type games don't hold my interest that well.

Wait, I liked playing Command & Conquer, that was a real-time strategy game.

I've got to get ready to head out in a few minutes.

I hope to get the problem with the LoTR game fixed at home via a patch I found on the game's website. If not, I have decided to take it back and exchange it for another (hopefully).

Today was a bit too full of adventure for a sensible Hobbit like myself. I hope tomorrow things are back to normal.

Bye everyone!

Yes, I know what you mean. :) Even so, I like playing the "Deidre" faction most of all... it's just so much fun taking over the native life and using it against the other factions! :)
