The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

I have often used the floating egg trick when uncertain! I hate opening them up to find out!

I sent Frodo on his way. *Sniff* give us the tracking, and we can keep an eye out for black riders.

It was a lot of fun! I took a clear pitcher of water and we sat down on the kitchen floor while Joshua napped and did the "experiment". All together we did a dozen eggs and an 18 count eggs...whatever that total is...

I have photos uploading now. I believe what you're saying is exactly what I'm going to do. I am concerned because there is some damage to the wood under there too.
This water line is coming off the hot water heater into the house. Therefore using the cutoff of water to the water heater has allowed me to continue to have cold water just not hot water. Therefore, it hasn't been critical that it get fixed now.
Since I am down to less than 24 hours before I can leave to go stay with my Grama in the hospital again, I will just recover the hole in my floor and do this when I get back. Same plan - new week.

I'm going outside and sip a cup of coffee and watch the kids play in the pool. See you later!

Okay, here are the photos. First of all, seeing the view from just inside the floor opening, there are 2 sets of pipe running out through the back wall to the water heater. My problem is with the far pipe.

Now, looking just a little closer and from ground level you can kind of see the tricksey way you have to reach this pipe. The leak is at that top joint up there.

Another view from the ground where you can see the offending joint.

And, just for reference, I have given an above the floor view to show where this is located in relationship to the access hole. From the top right corner of the hole there is a trail of pliers, phones and then a maglight standing up over the spot on the floor above the problem.

Any other suggestions? I am not averse at all to the epoxy putty for underwater. Just thought I'd give some reference.

Aw man. That line party sounds awesome. If it were half the distance I'd do it!

Isn't homeschooling grand? I will so be at the space center with you guys! I can recite weird space poetry for your boys... hmm, have they ever heard of Heinlein?
In my news, work was weird, it's raining, and we can't get the iron-on transfers to transfer onto dark colors. Also my chat is late showing up... and my grandomther is stealing my room tonight.
I am also regressing to about fifteen years old because of all this Harry Potter insanity around me...

Sneaking around at work, I found all the solvents and stuff I need to finish this study.
I sent Frodo on his way.

Can't decide what to fix for supper. I'm tired and boring after all the days frustrations. I made rice and gravy. Nothing else. I wish you'd grill me one of them famous steaks when you get home.

Uncomfortable is a good word for it. Keep in mind that we've had Biblical rains and the pipe was gushing for a whole night. MMMmmmm slopping in wet muck. Sounds like a dwarf's dream. There is also a buried 220 volt line going through there somewhere that some previous owner didn't bother to put in conduit. Love that. Phones are there for various emergency reasons. Just in case I didn't die immediately.
