The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

If you can shut off the water coming INTO the house first, it will make the repair more secure. Of course, the main water input valve is usually either rusted open, or needs a special wrench from the county or the plumber. But depending on what's feeding that pipe, you might be able to shut off the water upstream before your start the repair.

My epiphany did not come to me as I hoped, and I think I need to force the issue.Well that kind of sounds like an epiphany of sorts. So what exactly is it you do now?
There's a pretty good job market here in MN. ;-)

Just finished with school today. It was great! Matthew and Joshua learned about the space program in Florida and found out about the first astronauts and how one of them looked down on the Earth and said "In the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth..." and how it was broadcast all over the world. I sat under the shade tree reading this to them with the chickens running all around and I just bawled. I was just so happy to be sitting there telling them about it.
Kennedy Space Center is definitely on our agenda for Entmoot!
Also, we learned about eggs from a book he checked out of the library. I asked him "How can you tell an egg is fresh or old?" and he looked it up in the index of his book and read it aloud to me. Then we got out the "fresh" eggs my neighbor's dad gave me and the store-bought eggs from Walmart and tested them. You put them in water and if they float, they have been around so long that the fluid inside has evaporated out of the pores in the shell and they are too old to eat. Ten out of the twelve fresh eggs sunk like rocks...meaning they were indeed fresh...but two floated to the surface. Too old to eat. Every single Walmart egg sank.
Very interesting day!

I'm outta here, see everyone tomorrow.
