Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

That is just the coolest chicken coop! Great idea about the paints! The chickens won't care what color or kind it is! Did the boys have fun painting it? I saw Joshua was wearing some of it! ;o)

Round these parts you can buy lion and tiger urine from the zoo and spray your plants with that.... people use it for roses though, not food. ;~D

Our across the street neighbor planted some Scotch Broom to hide the underground utilities box in her front yard. When she put it in 15 yrs. ago, it was about 2' tall. It is now over 8' tall! How close do you have to be to that stuff to get an allergic reaction?

Round these parts you can buy lion and tiger urine from the zoo and spray your plants with that.... mmmmmm.....no....just not goin' there....
To: SuziQ
Oh most people sneeze when it is near or thick like it gets in a whole field.... has it spread? - What kind of a nut plants scotch bloom? - It isn't even pretty!

Don't forget IOTN! He's within mooting distance. Thanks for the reminder!!
Hey IOTN, ecurbh will be in the Westboro MA area at the end of June. We're thinking of getting together for lunch or dinner on Monday, June 30th or Tues. July 1st. Could you join us either day? I guess it would be about a 1 1/4 hr. drive for you up 146.
I don't know if we can convince Rosie to come down and join us or not. That's a LONG drive for her, and she doesn't like to drive anyway, so it would be an even LONGER bus ride!

The neighbor puts coyote urine around his stuff.

Thinkin' about peeing on the shrubs Corin? If the neighbors didn't think he was strange before, they surely would after seeing THAT!

The neighbor puts coyote urine around his stuff.Does it work? I think I'd rather use hair.
To: SuziQ
I guess it does. He's used it two years in a row. And all the deer end up over in my garden! They've never bothered the melons before. Good thing the squash are a bit prickly. :)

LOL...2 for $5

You could try hair in one area, and predator pee in the other, and do a scientific test. :~D

How about pink lawn flamingoes? If I were a deer those would frighten me away!

Ugh. Sitting here at work, bored to tears. I'd rather go home and work on websites.
To: JenB
How about pink lawn flamingoes? Nahh....they sit still and don't smell like predator.
To: Overtaxed
But they're scary! Like those statues of dwarves that people have in their yards sometimes. Scary...

I think they're gnomes....and they're creepy. I never thought flamingoes were creepy. Just tacky.
To: Overtaxed
Gnomes, dwarves, if we're talking lawn statuary there's no difference.
