Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Go check out DVD players at a pawn shop! - You might get a pretty good deal on a pretty high quality player, or a bargain basement price on a cheapo one!

Pawn shop? Do I look like the kind of hobbit who hangs out at pawn shops?
To: Overtaxed
You can get good deals there sometimes! Check it out was my only suggestion!

I like the other forum, but I think it's gonna take a little time to figure out how best to use it, and I don't think it'll ever be a replacement.FR is the flagship of the internet, and we probably have tons of lurkers here (waving). Here we're like workers at a Middle Earth theme park, and I want to do my best to make it a pleasant experience for everyone. Plus, we have our charity work, and I want to see it continue, and maybe even attract more people.
But I did sign up, because there can't be enough good Middle Earth sites.

Like my Dad used to say: "I've got enough of my own junk, I don't need other peoples' junk too!

There is a lot of good stuff there... It is the folks who buy expensive electronics they can't afford who end up pawning it.

Even so, I wouldn't pick it up in time. Friday afternoon I make a beeline to home!

Soooo many excuses. ;-)
All the time I was growing up, Mom told us never to go near pawn shops...in the last six months, Dad has been visiting one regularly. That's where he got his latest amplifier, for his latest musical interest, the electic bass.
Heaven help us all.

To tell you the truth, I don't even know where the closest one is. I expect they have them in Durham.....

I am in ecurbh's chat room if any are available to check it out...
I posted a thread with the chat room link over there....

Sean Bean's Boromir is resurrected in a lengthy DVD flashback.
Have you any idea how much I'm looking forward to that? You and me BOTH!! There was just NOT ENOUGH of him in the first movie!! Are you familiar with Sean Bean as Richare Sharpe, a rifleman in the British Army during the Napoleanic War? It is on DVD, and I love watching Sean Bean, but frankly, the books are better. They are written by Bernard Cornwell, and each title has "Sharpe" in it, e.g., "Sharpe's Eagle", "Sharpe's Gold". Now that I've seen the DVDs, I see Sean Bean as Sharpe when I'm reading the books.

Yes, been watching the news reports on Brinkley. When I heard the news this morning, the firs thing I thought of was his comment, I think at the last Dem. Convention, about Bill Clinton being a DEAD BORE!!!

Hey Scott! How was the trip to Boise? I wasn't here for 6 days, and I haven't even put a DENT in trying to catch up!

Evergreen Hucks... Those look like the blueberries ny sister has growing in her yard on the MS Gulf Coast. I wonder if they are actually huckleberries?
To: Lil'freeper
Be safe. Have a good trip.

The vacation to MA is a go! I'll be arriving June 24 and leaving July 2. Not sure yet what my family schedule will be, but I'll try to get that nailed down asap. Is there any chance you might be able to join us too, Rosie?
