The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

It is cold tonight...surprisingly so after the last couple of days.

Well, it is 56 degrees and only expected to drop to 50, but with any wind or rain, and it would be cold for spoiled ponies.

Vet and friends tell me Bay is best off outside where he moves more and won't get stiff from being cooped up, but I also think there is a lot of benefit to him getting to lay down. He doesn't lay down outside at night, he stands watch over the pony. Inside, they both sleep laying down.

Just a low wattage one. They like it about 80 degrees. So I have it shining slightly into their box...they can get away from it if they like.

Good night! I'm turning in!

Good night. I'm fixing to turn in too. Myranda's big day tomorrow. I'm fixing taquitos for breakfast for her. That's special to her.

Yeah, I can just see that. G'nad to customer: "Take this smiley sticker or I'll break your leg!" LOL!

I picked Minas Tirith, though Rivendell was a very close runner up.

Very good movie:) I really enjoyed it. It ended a bit abruptly, but just makes anticipation better.

We watched a little of the special CD. The guy with the arrows Legolas?? he's not that pretty in real life:(, I liked the guy that got killed at the end:(, and Gandalf, surely he is going to show up again, surely...???

Any way on a scale of 1-10 I'd have to give it a 10 for modern movies, no cussing, no sex, violence without all the gore, and it was still good imagine that.

The second one is not out yet on DVD right? I'd rather watch a movie this long at home so I can pause it sometime.

One question, those were orcs right, not goblins, are orcs a cross between goblins and something else.

Why I was given such a gift, I'll never know, the Lord has a plan I'm sure, I'm listening for it, but until that time, I'll continue what I'm doing and witnessing to who ever will listen.

Maybe that IS His plan!

Continued: Sorry for the interruption, had to go look at another thread as per Mack request:

I guess the best part of the movie, IMO, is the scenery. Wow, beautiful country and beautiful sets.

I noticed a lot of the names from the Hobbit in it. Because of what I have read so far made the beginning have more sense. When I saw the 15 minutes a while back I could make heads or tail out of it, but that might have been because we got started watching it late. I'm not that sharp at the best of times but go really dull at night. In fact it is now 12:20....Good Night:)

Glad you liked it! That is so exciting, I hoped you would!

I hope you will want to watch it again - there is a lot going on there that is easy to miss the first time.

Great question about goblins and orcs... Actually, Tolkien says they are the same thing, Tolkien has a habit of giving everything at least 4 names. ;~D

The orcs in Moria were the very same type that Bilbo would have encountered in the Misty Mountains... That is the same mountain range.

They Uruk Hai, the bigger, more man-like orcs bred by Saruman and sent to capture the hobbits are a hybrid type of orc.

The front door (which was locked - at least they thought it was - ) blew open, and a huge gust of wind flurried into the room and guttered the candles on the table.

Elijah sure made an entrance, didn't he?

Even though you have seen the film, there is a lot more to discover in the books... PJ did a fantasic job with the parts of the story he told, but there is a lot left untold too.

PJ definately made a beautiful film... the sets and attention to detail are wonderful. Middle Earth is in New Zealand.

Figured it out yet?

No, there may be a joke in here somewhere...I haven't read all of this thread! I'll have to visit the hobbits, but their threads are endless!! Sorry about the delay, the pager called me to a letter, then not to the comments.

I liked the guy that got killed at the end:

Boromir is one of my favorite characters; such a tragic figure. And it sure don't hurt that Sean Bean is SO easy on the eyes! ;o)

I finally made it to the end of the posts! I was with Clare's Anime Club tonight at the high school. Got home about 11:15, but zonked out for a while. Gotta get to bed now cause we have the Girl Scout Yard Sale tomorrow. The boys loaded the van for me just a little while ago. LOADED is the operative word! It is packed to the gills with junk and clothes I hope will bring some cash to the Girl Scouts tomorrow. Actually it is selfish on my part. The more money we raise as a group, the less we each have to fork over when we go to NY City!
