The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

An hour away? That stinks!

Becky is a chatterbox, so when she calls, I know it'll be at least 10 minutes before I can get a word in edgewise.

I think I'll buy her a pony on the way home.

LOL! I think that's a fair deal! ;)

Any news on your chickens? Sorry to keep asking but I have been thinking about it. You know these eggs of mine are going to hatch this coming Mon. Are you still wanting to see them hatch? I just wanted to warn you that they kind of come in waves, so if, and I hope you do, you come you may need to plan on being here awhile. I have seen a chick pip all the way around the egg, but not come out for several hours, then others pip around and come out in 30 minutes. They are all different. But I have noticed that they come in groups. Go figure.

You will just need to let me know what time you all want to come, and I will meet you in town to follow me out here. Any time is good for me. I just want you to know that there is no way of telling, at least for me, exactly how long you would have to be here.

LOL...Autumn's not quite at that level yet...she's more into completely random Q&A's ("So, Autumn, what did you have for lunch?" "I wanna go outside!" lol). What's even funnier is, I have a direct line that comes into my office, and once in a while, Jess will let her dial the phone. So, I pick up the phone, not knowing who it is, and say my usual greeting:

"Career Services, this is Joe"

Autumn: "Is this my Daddy?"

I feel kinda naughty today! :O)

I made a sign and am disoplaying it here amongst the libs at that! (i think they are a bunch of orcs anyway) This is what I wished I had the nerve to say to them.

"I'm a Conservative, Catholic, Christian, Republican, Canadian-American and proud of it!

So deal with it!!!!! "

How's that for hobbit rebelliousness?

I never really understood the definition of "bittersweet" until I had kids.

I think the Baltimordor experience was a bit stressful on the fair hobbit.

Oh good....then I don't really have to cart him all over the state. :)

Had a stupid physical to go to this morning all the way in freaking Burlington. Hurry up and wait....hurry up and wait. At least it's not raining....

Actually, it does! I used to drink it hot on purpose, especially when I had a cold

I have a recipe for a "Hot Spiced Tea" that uses Tang, instant tea, cinnamon and cloves, etc. I make it with the Decaf Instant Tea so that I could have it at night. It is great for a cold!

LOL, I have seriously considered buying some for my competition trail rides. Do you know how hard it is to go in the woods when you are never sure when a male competitor is going to come down the trail. When I have finally gotten to the point that I HAVE to go, climb off my horse in what I think is a safe spot, get situated to go, I get stage fright:), Have you ever squatted in the woods trying to go while holding a horse, never knowing when someone is going to go by and your horse might try to follow, and you've got you pants down, it can be nerve racking. LOL, I don't drink coffee anymore in the mornings before I go out.

OK, I've just decided, if/when Rose and I have kids, I'm not ever going to leave the house again. Unless I take them with me.

Heh. I'm writing that down.

Anyway, she goes in for an MRI next Tuesday to see if the cause is anything internal, and since she is slightly claustrophobic, I'm having her "train" by laying under the bed for an hour each day.

LOL!! Under the bed? I'm with Jess. Those things are creepy. I sat in the room with John when he had his MRI a couple of years ago. I think I would have gone nuts!

They have new MRI machines that are not closed in. Why don't y'all ask about them? I know they have one up here in Worcester that's connected with UMass Medical.
