Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

I just can't do it. Sounds like you might know what I mean.Yes, I think we understand each other!

Apparently he and his wife are leading it...he's a child and family counselor. Oh....those people would grate on my nerves too...(I think I know them...)

Yikes! What a waste of good chicken! Crabs are scavengers; they'll eat anything! Yeah.... They will eat anything.... and the chicken was cheap, especially when you get it when the sell-by date was almost up on it. And it seemed to last longer than fish carcasses in the pots and didn't make the whole boat smell nasty. Trust me! - We are serious crabbers, but we don't like to suffer nasty crab bait!
To: 2Jedismom
Sometimes you'd hear about how nobody knew they were missing.
Crab bait.Have you ever read Tom Clancy's book "Without Remorse"? It is the background on John Clark, the CIA guy, and Jack Ryan's bodyguard. Your 'crab bait' comment make me remember a part of it!

Shrink SPAM!Ahem... making a note of anti-social rebellious behavior...

He's also big into substance abuse treatment, and that's what the fight was over. I believe in the complete and utter healing of the Christian substance abuser (after appropriate treatment for the physical consequences of abuse like DTs). I believe that the Lord can heal them and they need never address the issue again. What I said that hacked him off (apparently) is that the Mental Health industry IN GENERAL fails to offer the saving healing power of the Lord as part of their treatment, thus keeping their clients chained to their "recovery" and never being truly free.
You'd think that would go over really well in a Sunday school class...but no. Apparenly there are people in the class that are roped into this very thing and he felt he had to put me in my place.

It was that voice in my head again, Doc! I swears it!

No! I'll have to read it, after ROTK comes out. I'm studying up.

I am not comfortable in large groups anyway, let alone a bunch of women.
The thing about mothers and fathers with their children....do you have trouble not showing disgust when people talk about having to "babysit" their own kids. Or mothers who can't grocery shop if they have their children with them. Those attitudes are so prevalent now a days and I find it so very sad. I wonder how it makes the kids feel to be such a burden to their parents.

Really nice place. Cute whirlygig, I want one of those. lol

You'd think that would go over really well in a Sunday school class...but no. If he had any class he would've agreed and made his case for why he stays in the profession in order to have the opporutnity to offer that aspect of healing.
To: PayNoAttentionManBehindCurtain
Wneighbor and I just talked about this yesterday on the phone...how you seldom here people say anything nice about their kids. And I'm not talking about the natural struggles that parents have with their teenagers. I'm talking people moaning about how raising their little ones is like some kind of tribulation!
To: PayNoAttentionManBehindCurtain; 2Jedismom
Or mothers who can't grocery shop if they have their children with them. My wife is certainly capable of shopping without our three-year-old. But our oldest did not darken the door of a grocery store from the time he was three until he was at least five. It appears it will be the same with this one.
Not that we can't (or won't) handle him. But why provide the opportunity for a fight if we don't have to?
To: Corin Stormhands
The problem was, our teacher interrupted me. If I'd been able to finish what I was saying, I believe the guy would have agreed. Unfortunately, he attacked me and didn't give me the chance to explain...thus shutting the doors of communication between us for, well...pretty much forever.
To: 2Jedismom
I'm talking people moaning about how raising their little ones is like some kind of tribulation! It makes you wonder why some folks even bother HAVING them!
To: 2Jedismom; g'nad
Yeah, I remember when it happened. You weren't treated very nicely. g'nad's close enough now to whack someone if you need him to...
