Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Good morning!
Apparently I did something right this week, for I had a nice surprise when I weighed in this morning. Down three pounds on the week, after two weeks of no loss or gain!

Hello everyone! I'm feeling chipper on this sunny, warm Saturday morning! Stuff is beginning to sort out.
For one, starvation is now no longer a possibility...and I didn't even get a single sammich out of it :-{
All of our fallback stuff (in case the Boise thing didn't work out) have now come through. I was approved for unemployment comp, I have these two sweet contracts (which will overwhelm the unemployment comp for the weeks I work on them) and my wife will now have a job here in town (unless we move instead). So, even if the good stuff in the mountains doesn't work out for some reason...we're OK. I wanted all that fallback stuff settled before I went on my trip -- AND IT IS!
So I'm quite chipper this morning as we keep working on little clean up chores around the house in anticipation of putting it on the market.
And now the City of Seattle is pursuing me for a position there. Really good pay...really bad environment. It's still going to be Boise if we work out the details.

Good morning and good for you! I still haven't bought a scale, but I know what it would tell me!

I am glad all of your fallback stuff came through, though I would have given you a sammich! I agree that the city of Seattle would not be fun. The environment would be one thing, but the commute would be four wasted hours a day unless you [gasp] moved up there!
I am gulping some coffee before getting cleaned up to go up for cat shaving day. A friend is gonna come along and hold cat feet.

Good Luck with the DMV...DMV is open on weekends? Ours is open for a few hours on Saturdays, except for today. But that little tidbit never made it up on their website. So, once we got down there and saw the "closed for Memorial Day" signs I lost control over my middle finger. (Not very lady like of me I know...but...).
Fortunately we had other errands in the area so it wasn't a complete waste of a trip. I'm still irritated, though. At least our RINO governor vetoed the bill that would give licenses to illegal/undocumented aliens.

I lost control over my middle finger. (Not very lady like of me I know...but...). Shocking.... just, shocking! ;~D
Good morning!

Don't forget the necessaries for cat shaving...a little after shave and some good shaving cream:
To: Scott from the Left Coast
That would be very nice indeed! Thanks for the tip!

He could wander off somewhere, get the chain fouled on something where no one could find him. I was actually thinking about attaching his chain to something out here. We don't have a complete fence and I really don't want him to get run over. I thought about it last night but didn't want to get accused of dog-napping. And if I'd have called law enforcement to explain the situation I was afraid they'd come get him. He looked so comfy in our garage, carport, patio area that I left him. But, you're right. And it's about time I get clothing on and go knock on neighbor's doors. They oughta be up by now. I hope.

I went through all the junk mail. I can see the dining room table now. mine is scattered on the den floor. in organized piles of course. the collectable junk looked more appealing to go through than the junk mail.

WOW!! You've got all the good stuff going on. You must be living right.
To: osagebowman
It's pouring here.
Did you see my fish? I just ate it! The boys had no qualms about it either and we all got a few good bites. It was small but very meaty and the meat just flaked off the bone in big chunks.
There's nothing like fried fish for breakfast!
It's pouring here...so much for fishing today.

A friend is gonna come along and hold cat feet. You have some really staunch and sturdy friends.
To: Wneighbor
Well, I would tie him up and take control of him until either his home was found or you took him to a shelter, but it didn't seem like you were ready to do that. Great!
One way or the other, it isn't safe for him to be dragging the chain loose.
To: Wneighbor
You have some really staunch and sturdy friends. It's true. This is a great act.

It's pouring here...so much for fishing today. so does this mean you can freep?
To: Wneighbor; Overtaxed
You guys are spending way too much time on junk mail.
Anything that isn't a bill (or a check) goes directly into the burn barrel on the way into the house!
To: Scott from the Left Coast
I suspect the fall-back stuff being in place is due mainly to your diligent efforts to see that they were! Good job!
Did you see my catfish? I'm ridiculously proud of it.

If an owner didn't show up I'd be hard pressed to get about 50 feet of fence in and let him stay. Smeagol would probably just turn inside out but I like this one. Large. But not huge. Would make a good friend, companion and watcher. I could tell very quickly.
The thing I'm really afeared of is..... remember me telling ya'll a couple of weeks ago that I could hear a dog in the neighborhood whining a lot and moaning and barking like it was neglected? Well, I hope this one isn't it. I would now be even more upset if I discovered that. I would have to do something.
I'm off to knock on the busybody's door.
