Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

They chased all the way west through Dallas county and then into the next county to the west before he crashed. When we still lived in Northern Virginia, one afternoon my wife looked out and counted 17 police cars on our street. They had a guy down on the ground with the police circling around him. Apparently the chase had started in Charlottesville two hours away, and ended up in the basement of our building.

It was a fun car. I just saw one a couple of years ago, out in front of an auto parts store here in town. It looked like it had been cared for!
I traded it in 1974 for a 68 American Motors Rebel (which was named 'Rebel', of course). That car was such a piece of caca! SSQ jokes that he married me for my car, cause he didn't have one when we met. I always say he must have been pretty hard up if he married me for that heap!! He cut his car repair teeth on that one. We finally dumped it in Jackson MS on our way to Indiana in 1980. We were towing it behind the U-Haul on our trip from FL after he'd finished Grad School. We turned a corner once, and the front tires of car didn't turn back. We were DRAGGING that sucker down the street! We left it there with my sister and b-i-l. They sold it for us a couple of months later.

me... just a clavicle and little finger... hasn't slowed me down though...
To: g'nad
Tell us part of that story.... we can talk about entmoot any old time! I don't even remember the exact dates! The major weekend is Jan 9-12.... but I think we get the castle mdiweek sometime. And we don't have to send money again till July...

How does one break a clavicle and a little finger?
To: Corin Stormhands
Apparently the chase had started in Charlottesville two hours away, and ended up in the basement of our building. Yikes!

To: RMDupree
This calls for more food....I agree.... I am gonna make some french toast.
To: HairOfTheDog
How does one break a clavicle and a little finger? Very carefully.

two separate occaisions... the clavicle I broke in a fall... my buddy John was vistin'... we were walikn down an old road bed... he slipped, I reached forward to steady him, and went down hard myself onto a rock the size of my torso... I knew my shoulder was hosed... had a gash on my grape too... didn't go to the doc for three days cuz I knew what he'd say...
the finger I broke on the tractor... was brush hoggin' in thick brush, hit a stump that wrenched the steering wheel so hard it broke my pinky and ripped it outta the socket... I reset it myself, splinted it and taped it to the ring finger... happened last nite so it's still a little tender... today is an "inside day"...
both of these injuries are on my good arm, so life has been interestin' to say the least...
To: g'nad
Steve even approved of the castle...we're all going and even paid the deposit!
I considered dashing over to see you yesterday! We've been wondering how you were! What a gorgeous baby!!!
Any good fishing where you are? Steve bought me a new reel with 20lb line for Mother's Day. What a guy!!
