The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

I'm not sure how long it takes for Hair to exercise the horses...but she'll probably be back by then, right? I think I posted my request too late for her to see it before heading out...

The narrative isn't even close to finished but I have a few more pics for ya. Am flirting with the idea of getting some shots with a lighthouse but the weather forcast is (you guessed it) for rain and I'm running out of opportunities, I think.

Please let me know when and where to mail him. (I think the Frod-meister might be getting anxious to be on his way....)

The pics may be slow to load- blame Comcast (they're the local cable monopoly). They do link to larger copies.

Frodo at Ft. McHenry, former hangout of Francis Scott Key and birthplace of our national anthem. Gotta love that magnificent star-spangled banner...

I'll have to check out that part of the park...

I had to log off...hubby is a bit grouchy about me being online. The Hole Dwellers are pretty used to my abrupt departures.

Those are great!! Looks like Frodo had some interesting places to visit!

I don't know who gets him next. I'll need him by June 26th so I'll have time to get him ready for the trip to the Big Apple. I hope the 'Terror Threat' has been lowered by then, or we may decide not to take the girls to such a juicy target as NYC!

I think he is going to Overtaxed's garden and other spots in NC next, and if we are quick, we might be able to send him up to Rosie in New Hampshire before your June 26 trip SQ!

Holding off on any of the Texas visits till later so we can cluster them, more efficient mailing him around since there are so many Texans.

Good morning!

It's a positively dreary day today. Rain is forecast until Sunday. *sigh* I'm never going to get my house built at this rate.

I like the Ft. McHenry photos. Think I should go there someday.

If you're ever feeling touristy and need a place to stay in the DC-Baltimore-Philly corridor you're welcome at our house- that is if it ever gets built.

Second week of June would probably work for me...or even later than that. Shouldn't take more than a day (two days at MOST) to send him to SuziQ. So we can cut it fairly close.

Good morning! Very wet today. Fiona didn't get her morning walk today...just a quick trip outside. If I were a really hardcore dog owner, I suppose I'd walk her no matter the weather...but I'm not. I'm a sissy! So is she, for that matter, so I guess I don't have to feel guilty.

But now my grass is gonna grow another six inches, and I'm gonna have to mow it again. :-(

BTW, nice talking to you folks in chat last night. Sorry I kinda monopolized the conversation with garden stuff for awhile. ;-)

Supposed to clear up later today! Maybe more of my tulips will bloom!

What kind of dog is Fiona? I have a Jack Russell, Susie, she is a whimp about rainy days also. Have to carry her off the porch:)

This is the first year I have ever had a flower garden and I am really enjoying it also. We put decorative fencing around the patio, and an arbor. My tulips have bloomed and gone already. Now have petunia, impatient, glads, periwinkles, geraniums, lillies, zinna, and morning glories on the arbor.

Fiona is a dachshund...yet another hyperactive small breed. ;-) There are pictures of her on my profile page. She doesn't like cold or wet. Guess I can't blame her!

I need to get some annuals for my flower garden, I think. Right now I ONLY have tulips. I was going to plant daffodils, too...but the ground froze before I got them in. And I hadn't planted anything else yet as we're still getting the occasional frost - they're predicting a POSSIBLE frost tonight, but it's getting warmer!
