The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

I just want to know how illegals manage to get licenses. In Michigan, you go to certain Detroit offices of Secretary of State, and ask to see a certain person behind the counter. Some offices specialize in giving licenses without ID, others in selling car licenses without the proof in insurance you must legally have. A third type of office will re-title your stolen car, removing it from the stolen car database, and registering the now-legal VIN in your name.
These full-service locations have done business like this for a long time, because even (or especially) powerful politicians like to have extra ID, or get good deals on stolen cars without risking jail time. But now, potential terrorists may be taking advantage of these same services.
It's all part of a criminal culture that's common knowledge among that class of people. For example, a lost or stolen ID badge for a suburban office finds its way to Detroit to be sold or rented, and is back in the suburbs again, in the hands of the crook, in just a few hours. I learned that when some scout, who wanders through office buildings all day, grabbed a security badge off a secretary's desk in the morning, and the robbers were helping themselves to laptaps that evening while the cleaning crew looked the other way.

I'm so disgusted that the chicks didn't come in today I don't know what to do. The guy just seems clueless. 2J, do you think he is actually ordering your chicks? Didn't you have this happen last week or was I too sunburned to pay correct attention?
To: Corin Stormhands; Wneighbor; All
I think she was gone today because she spoke at a commencement somewhere last night, according to a quick name search in google news.
But look what else I found! GAH!
This man
Must be punished!
Story: WorldNetDaily: The 'Times', they are a-changin'
"The downside in the legal victory for WorldNetDaily is that now they have a reporter who must come face to face with that psychotic hobbit, Helen Thomas, on a daily basis. This indeed must make the victory bittersweet, but I digress. "
FEAR! FIRES! FOES! AWAKE!

You know the feeling, where you're getting the run-around? I feel like it's happening to me...
Here's an old country feed store...in walks a slightly pudgy housewife with two kids in tow ordering two specific chicks. "Sure, lady...I'll order the chicks for ya...(ha ha ha...she'll forget all about it in a few day...)"
Then the annoying housewife keeps dropping by and now even calling! Next thing you know, she's gonna have her hubby calling and dropping by...what are we going to do then?
Argh.

HA! Corin is not an in-the-spotlight kind of dwarf. I can sit here and sling it out all day through the keyboard. Well, if you got that job, the Hobbit Hole would certainly be an attentive audience at every press conference and briefing.

New babies keep the best of us away from our PCs and I am assuming that g'nad is no exception! He had also mentioned some difficulty in getting the cable connected to his house. He was having to post from a library or something. He may not be able to get there very often what with the logistics of the move AND the new baby.
To: 2Jedismom
What did he say about the chicks? - That he doesn't know about them? - Or he doesn't know when they are coming? - Or what?
To: HairOfTheDog
Just that they aren't in yet and he doesn't know when they are coming in. This guy is the quiet one. I talked with one the other day that was most helpful and told me "I'm expecting the next batch in on Monday". The most precise answer I've got yet!

So, are you going to the feed store twice a day now????
You could go mornings and early afternoons and have Steve "drop by" late afternoon.
Think you'd get the chickies then?
To: 2Jedismom
Hmmm..... Well, farm supply guys are sortof imprecise people.
To: HairOfTheDog
Aren't you glad I helped Corin keep his self control?
To: Wneighbor
I thought they just got tired of her.Can you blame them? What a HAG she is!!
I'm happy for Ari, though I do like him very much in the PS position. I think I'd read that he had been spokesman for Bush even when Bush was Texas Gov. Now he can go out into the private sector and make a bunch of money for himself, his new bride, and, it is hoped, a family!

Even Lobelia Sackville-Baggins wasn't THAT hideous!

Well, it's a long ways off...so I decided to just call today (I was fishing at the reservoir nearby last time I dropped by.)
The guy's not too talkative...like I say who I am and have my chicks come in yet and he says "No." So I say "Do you know when they'll be in?" He says "No." I say "Should I just give up on it?" and he says "Call me in the morning". That was the whole conversation.
Geez, he's worse than Steve!

Well, farm supply guys are sortof imprecise people. ummmm, I was kind of thinking that myself. I sort of doubt that any I know would take you seriously 2J until you just pushed them. If they order specific unique breeds they generally want a larger order than 2. That was kind of why I asked about the multiple trips per day. Push 'em till they get off their ummmm... pot.

I know he's too busy to come in and visit with us right now, but I'm just a selfish Hobbit lass who wants to see PICTURES!!!!
