The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

No, I don't have a bike yet.... a friend of ours does and he likes company on rides. We rode down toward Pittsburgh and across this huge concrete bridge. Pittsburgh's a lovely city, nice place to live.

Corin has apparently also offended the Catholics over "there." He didn't mean to. Honest.

Tee Hee. Freepmail me what you said. I won't get offended, honest!

I also enjoy the gigantism of "Things to Come", while hooting at the British socialist propaganda.

I've never heard of that one. I'll check Netflix to see if they have it. I just LOVE The Fifth Element! It is a hilarious movie!

I think Fifth Element is one of the best movies Bruce Willis has ever been in, and I like Die Hard very much.

I think the best part is when he's hiding everyone all over his apartment... "autowash"...

It's 1930's sci-fi. Laughable message, although socialism was a big hit worldwide then, but state-of-the-art special effects for its day.

I just checked Netflix, and they have "Things to Come" a 1967 movie paired with "Journey to the Center of Time". 'Things' is described as sci-fi. Is that the same movie?

The one I have, and adaptation of HG Wells' book, is from the 1930s (I didn't fast forward the tape to the end to see the copyright date). The movie is B&W (of course), and 92 minutes. Does that help?

I have to tell ya'll I am so mad (again) right now. I just came in from Myranda's theater thingy. I got there a few minutes early and got a seat right in the center on the 2nd row. Some students were sitting in front of me on the first row and later another group of students came and sat down to my left. One of the boys in a theater class sat down beside me and immediately began horseing around with the other students. He was loud, obnoxious and very physical with the other kids. One of the other boys on the front row justifiably turned and got him back but then the kid ducked and fell right into me smashing me sideways. Never said sorry or anything else. Then in another few minutes he was horsing with other kids further down our row to the left and bashed into me again without me expecting it. He was touching and harrassing the girl sitting in front of him to such a degree that had it been Myranda I'd have been arrested for assault. When the lights went down and the theater thingy was getting ready to start I just turned to him and told him in no uncertain terms that I would not stand for his continued antics during the production. Of course the little smart a$$ spouted off back to me. I got right back in his face and told him I'd be happy to call authorities on him. The drama teach either did not hear this exchange (which I can't imagine unless he was so focused elsewhere -- he was standing about 8 feet from us) or he just ignorred it. I WILL be meeting with him at the school next week over this. And other school personnel if need be. BUT, there was a reception for parents after this production and I left and didn't even go. I didn't know if I could keep my cool and I don't want to actually get myself in trouble or embarrass Myranda too badly. But, I'm shaking. I'm so mad. That kid needs to be beaten despite any laws that might protect him from such. Sorry, very un-PC here.
