The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Howdy all!! Guess I will ahve to pull out the hunk pictures again, seeing as how the first round only sparked a tiny reaction....we can't even get the good old rivalry between elves and dwarves going anymore????

And did we chase ManBehindTheCurtain away?

Thanks, Jen. The Kids in Mind website mentioned the more 'explicit' parts. I think we may take a pass in the theater and wait for the DVD. We're gonna have our oldest son take them to see X-Men United, again. He hasn't seen it yet, and they'd like to see it again.

There's one long scene that cuts between a very racy party and ... well, you know. Lots and lots of bare flesh. Then there's another bit that's implied later... Um. I would really advise seeing it for yourselves and then deciding.

I have lots of thoughts there. I don't know whether it was a good movie or almost great. Didn't like it as much as the first. The action was wonderful. The philosophy was... boring. The ending was just cruel!

Something in there makes me wonder, though. I can't say what, but there's a scene where something happens, in the 'real world', that, IMHO, just shouldn't. Be interested in hearing others' thoughts when they get something.

I don't agree with my dad, who said the movie was good but the best thing about it was the T3 preview. Although that rocked and we're having a Terminator marathon when it gets closer.

I am not expecting Matrix Reloaded to be as good as the first. If I keep my expectations low, I find I enjoy movies much more!

Well... with low expectations you'll be blown away.

If you're comparing it to, say, "Die Hard", you'll be amazed. Just don't think too much of the original. It was more like a really cool Star Wars movie.

Now the crowd, wow, was that bad. Small children, teenage girls with cell phones - there should have been an id check but half the people would have been thrown out. The theater was packed, we got there 15 minutes early and the only four seats together were in the "pit" right in front of the screen, rather than in the stands which I prefer.

Anyhow I enjoyed it quiet a bit. The religious symbolism is... still wacky, and I think they're trying to add some sort of African/slavery thing too, but I could be wrong.

Sounds interesting to say the least. I loved the first movie, so I'm sure I'll enjoy this one.

Trinity is my favorite character!

It's a quiet night in the Hole, or is it always like this?

Depends on the evening. Sometimes it can get quite rowdy, but usually nothing like daytime.

I'm getting ready to go watch X-Men one more time...maybe I'll "get it" this time.

Hmmmm....I'll have to talk that over with the Mrs. Except for the bare butt, he can see most of that on regular tv -- well actually he can see that sometimes...sigh...

I like Trinity. She kicks - er, rear ends. Too bad she ends up with a drip like Keanu Reeves, huh. Not that he makes the movies lame, but really, couldn't they have found someone?

By the way - just in case you wanted to know - it's exactly 6 seconds from the fading of the title to the first explosion. We timed it.

Read that site's review of Matrix, Suzi, and can't help thinking they may have missed the point...

. Another extended fight scene shows one man fighting many, many other men with punches and kicks; many men are thrown through the air and crash into walls, benches, the ground, many more join the fight, the man fights with a metal pole as a weapon swinging it and twirling around on it, and the man is piled on by the other men. He then bursts out of the pile sending the other men through the air.

Um, ok, well we've all seen the preview of Neo fighting thirty kazillion Agent Elronds, right? That's what this is supposed to describe. Sheesh, it's like someone ran a plot summary through Babelfish a couple dozen times!

Not to knock the site, it's great somebody's looking out for families, but, uh...

Hey, I'm back. Ruthy! What are you doing here this late? I love it! I'm glad to see you. There were a lot more of us today. I'm plain sick of those dems though. They've made a party out of this whole thing at the expense of Texas.

So, does anyone know what will ultimately happen with the Dems? Is Perry just gonna let them come back and everyone act like nothing happened???

What I wouldn't give to see those Dems constituents give them a good kick in the whatfor...

Oh they go through every movie and mention ANY instance of violence; even to the point of someone shoving somebody. I was not so concerned about the violence, because our kids know that it is cartoon violence anyway. I was more concerned about the sex scenes. Not interested in our 13 yr old son seeing folks getting it on up on a 30 foot screen!!
