Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

When I moved from Michigan to Austin, I was lucky... I only took what would fit in one car. I still have a lot of stuff back at my parent's house (which my Mom is bugging me to come and get). Moving now, with all the stuff Rose and I have accumulated over 13 years, plus the stuff we inherited from her mother's house, is a nightmare... so I can definitely sympathize!

I don't watch it either. I just "hear" lots about what Simon does and says.

We're staying in the Hilton in Times Square, and we're gonna see "42nd Street" on Broadway!!

Okay, if I can remember exactly where it was, there's this quirky little Brazilian restaurant not too far away. It's on the same street as the Roosevelt Hotel.

When our Music and Fine Arts group went there, the Mrs. and I decided to look for "cheap" eats, like we wouldn't find at home (IOW, no McDs). This place was great. It had a buffet and was on three floors. If you had lunch on the first floor the price was $7.95. If you had lunch on the second floor, the price was $6.95. We went up to the third floor and had lunch for $5.95. And we're pretty sure it was all the same menu.

Two different times today dems (not legislators) came up to me in the parking lot to tell me they were proud I was there and then began to spew their ignorrant idiology. Whack!!! I looked for you on News 8, but unfortunately they only had one brief clip of two protestors standing side by side... I don't think either one was you! Their report spent a lot more time with a clip of their reporter standing on the bank of the Red River, "explaining" why the Dems ran to Oklahoma. It was quite slanted. If I mentioned that News 8 was paid for by the city of Austin, would you be surprised...?

no, that would not surprise me at all.

One thing that did tickle me though was that a guy from FOX national was there videoing us. No interview but lots of video. I can be more proud of those guys.

Heard on the news that the Dims have sent demands to the House Speaker, saying that if he agrees to drop the redistricting legislation they will return to Austin and agree not to run away again over any other legislation.

I hope he tells them to blow it out their shorts.
