Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Unlike Hair, I'd rather have a pit bull than a chicken. That's what you say now... but then you've got to get tigers to get rid of the pit bulls, and then elephants to get rid of the tigers. By the time you have elephants with their heads embedded in your skin you'll be wishing to have the ticks instead. At least they were small and didn't make you walk funny.

That's what you say now... but then you've got to get tigers to get rid of the pit bulls, and then elephants to get rid of the tigers. By the time you have elephants with their heads embedded in your skin you'll be wishing to have the ticks instead. At least they were small and didn't make you walk funny. Perhaps, but we have a few pit bulls in the family and they're much better behaved than Smeagol the lapdog. The worst thing is they WANT to be lap dogs too!!! And they're heavy in my lap!

private white party as an alternativeWhen SSQ graduated high school in 1971, it was the first year his MS delta school had been integrated. The school decided to have the prom at the all white Country Club, so none of the black kids would be able to attend. SSQ didn't go, but some of his friends did and told him that one of the black seniors was there AS THE BARTENDER!! LOL! I'll bet that guy was laughing his butt off all night long! Not only was he at the party, but he was making money to boot!
My senior class, also 1971, did much the same thing for the same reason. No one asked me, but I couldn't have gone to the dance anyway; it was held the night of graduation, and I had to leave to go to FL for a brother's wedding.
