Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Yes, have been to Sturgis several times. Don't go much anymore. Too many people with trailors instead of bikes.

WE went last year,1st time for me second for my husband. Beautiful country, but after 700 miles of site seeing, I parked mine and rode with him. 500,000 bikes all going about 100 miles an hour, the drivers either drunk or amature riders like me. 8 peopel killed in the first 5 days. I found it very intimidating:) I wouldn't mind going back sometime when it is NOT bike week.

Last year a very old friend of mine died in Sturgis. Had a heart attack while riding with his girlfriend. Very sad, but if I were to go like that everyone would know I went happy.

I guess it was OK. They let me on. I'm in SF now. Sitting at the Sofitel with wild turkey, beer, and laptop with wireless. Wow... Life is good.

I have no idea where I'm going to be in four months time, let alone next January (except I'm really likely to be somewhere other than where I am now). Money up front at the moment is a bit of an issue too... There is still hope...

I am comfortable with my inner dwarf...:-)
Many of us here in the Hole have taken on the characteristics of our favorite characters. We have several hobbits, an elf or two, a skivvieless Man of Gondor and at present count, four dwarves.
"Corin Stormhands" is my dwarven Middle-Earth name. I took that name after entering the Freeper witness protection program. I witnessed a very, very close friend being martyred in the religion wars...
