The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Oh, nothing major. I just took a short trip over to "that" forum. I saw the young one post this morning and ignored him (even though he annoyed me). And the elder one responded to him a little while back. I'm just not gonna play.

Discussing things some people aren't interested in is one thing...making posts than contain NO real content is another. My comments were not made in an attempt to disparage topics that people have an interest in and like to chat about with friends.
Just in case you thought they were.....

Spam is multiple repetitive posts.

Can you tell me which direction my garden should face in order to grow the best ingredients for lembas?Left?

See, the keywords annoy ME more than spamming ever would. They were trashed pretty early on this thread...
To: 2Jedismom
Sounds like a lovely time! Did you cry?LOL! No, I didn't! I was too busy trying to get the picture! If SSQ had been taking the snaps, I might have thought about it! I asked him if he were proud, and he said "I'll wait til he's done with Law School, then I'll be proud." He was joking of course, he's as proud as I am! He was just glad for Paul to be out of Amherst; one of the MOST liberal towns in the world!
Thankfully, he seems to have come through realtively unscathed. Probably because, for his extracurricular activities, he did things like Live action role playing (where folks run around fighting each other with weapons made from light wall PVC pipe and foam pipe insulation), live action 'Vampire' role playing, Warhammer, and paintball. Didn't give him much time for the lib gatherings! ;o)

No silly! If you were using a compass, what direction would it be? :)

My theory on the keywords is that since we were told we couldn't spam the thread anymore, some folks (like myself) spammed the keywords instead! Sorry!

No one is claiming authority!

I didn't leave Joseph at home by himself until he was almost 11. He may not get into mischief, but I'm thinking in the event of an emergency like a fire, etc., he might get excited and disoriented. I don't know, you know him best, but I think 8 is a little young. Why don't you see about getting some educational audiotapes or story tapes and listen to those as you go back and forth? It would make the time in the car more productive. A lot of families on the Classical h/sing board talk about 'car-schooling'. They are in their cars going back and forth to co-op classes, music or dance lessons a good part of the day. They bring along workbooks, lap desks, etc. for their kids to use in the car, and they make extensive use of books on tape, or courses on tape.
This could be a good time to introduce a foreign language. You can find language tapes for little children online at various places. Are you familiar with Rainbow Resource Center ? I get a lot of materials from them. Call, or go online, and get their catalog!

Wow... did JimRob visit the Hobbit Hole and lay down that little edict? No. At the outset of the thread, we sorta mutually agreed not to spam. Then there was a zealous attack on the keywords.
We went along pretty spamless for a while. But after 20,000 or so posts, we lost our self control...
I have a similar theory about Gilligan's Island, but that's another story...
To: Wneighbor
even tried to call her cell-to-cell within the WalMart. But, she didn't answer because I was in the same store and that would be a waste of minutes! ARGHI don't know about your plan, but we're on Verizon, and they have a deal with 250 minutes a month JUST for the folks on your own account, so you can call each other without it affecting your regular calling time. Our #1 son got a cell phone on our plan, and that's how we contact him and him us. He never calls us on the landline anymore.
To: HairOfTheDog
I am not saying anyone did claim authority.
The post said "since we were told we couldn't spam the thread anymore..."
My question was did JimRob forbid it, since he would the only one who could forbid what is and is not posted on these threads.

Okay! Okay! It seems to be getting a little heated in here. So I'd like to take the opportunity to say I'll stop spamming if it helps.
I'm sorry I started all of this because I don't like to see arguments get started in here.
Peace?
