Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Wow, those are some good answers. Really close. Should I post the answers? Or wait a little longer? I'll wait. :)
To: Wneighbor; JenB
Y'all need to stop or I'll post pictures from
here.
To: Corin Stormhands
OH CORIN!!! Are you a star now? Are you on there?
To: Corin Stormhands; JenB
This is for anybody out there. I'm in kind of a praying mode right now. Someone I know has a need. I can probably help. But, I probably won't like it - you know growth experiences are not fun. But, maybe this is what God would have me do right now. So, whoever reads this send up a quickie prayer right quick because I told the person I would call her back in 1 hour. That's 8 central.
To: Wneighbor
Nope, my picture is not there.
To: Wneighbor
Oh... I know exactly what you mean. Prayers on the way...

It came it came it came it came. I got the black single volume one with the gold trim from TolkienTown. It looks great next to The Hobbit inbetween the bookends from the DVD. Thank you both for all the help.

Ok here are the answers. (BTW Matrix, when it came out, was the only movie I have seen at the theater almost as many times as I saw TTT. Good Science Fiction. Really looking forward to it next week. But I don't expect it to be as good as the first one.)
Matrix Quiz #2069
1. What is the guy's name who comes to knock on Neo's apartment door? Choi.
2. What is Neo's apartment # ? 101
3. What is the title on the book where Neo hides his money and stuff? Simulacra and Simulation.
4. What is the name on the building where Neo works? Metacortex.
5. What is his boss's last name? Rhineheart.
6. Where does Neo agree to meet with Morpheus? Adams Street bridge.
7. If the war was over tomorrow, where would the party be? Zion.
8. What is Cypher's last name? Reagan.
9. What is the name of Morpheus's ship? Nebuchadnezzar
10. How old is it, approximately? 130 by the date built - 2069, and if the current year is close to 2199.
11. In what hotel does Agent Smith catch up with Neo and shoot him? Heart O' the City.
12. What is the room # ? 303
And, for 1,000 bonus points, explain Jean Baudrillard's Simulcra Theory as it relates to this movie.
Anything remotely simular to --
Divorced of actual need, the economy of production, distribution and exchange follows abstract non-objective meanings of consumerist prestige. There is no constraint on the semiotic system, and unhooked from any reality it "provides its own simulcrum"
Or not!
To: Corin Stormhands
I have never played "Everquest". However, just on general principles, I wouldn't let Jr. play unsupervised.
I'm deeply suspicious of the Internet! Or rather, some of the people out there who use the Internet....
To: g'nad
Glad to hear from you! And glad that the tornadoes have bypassed you.
May 12 is a good day for a birthday, I think!
I'll be having one then myself...
To: Corin Stormhands
X-Men arrived today.Cool! When are you going to watch it? And, is it the regular movie DVD, or the X-Men 1.5 special edition DVD?
To: Wneighbor
Rose was at home when the Jarrell storm passed a couple of miles to our west and hit the Albertson's store in Cedar Park. I was trapped at work... I was working at Motorola's Oak Hill facility, and they herded everyone down to the first floor and wouldn't let anyone leave until the tornado warning was over. I was quite p.o.'d about that at the time.
By the way, we took a drive up to Taylor today to see what land might be available up there, as well as figure out how long it would take to drive to Dell from there. Had a nice afternoon drive, then went out to dinner!

Matrix Quiz #2069Ouch. And I thought I knew the movie well... not as well as I thought, evidently! ;)
