The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

They sell Christians in Texas?????? Gee Corin, after reading ya'lls war that went on last night I'm starting to think that many of those who think they are us are "sold".
did that make sense? I think it did.
The thing that really irked me the most about that whole thing was that guy saying that to Hair. You know, I may be an old biker chick and like things a bit rough around the edges... BUT I WAS RAISED A SOUTHERN LADY! And sorry guys, but some things just aren't things you say to ANY female if you want to keep YOUR integrity! Might not be fair but it's the way it is!
and Corin and ksen, you KNOW I'm not talking about you. You defended her. Which is what a real MAN does.

You can't eat the children's pets Sam!Well...you CAN, but you probably shouldn't!

I think you would want to buy chicks, not eggses.Mmmmmm... maybe I'll have an omelette for lunch today...

Ever notice how you go to WalMart in the summer time and see women old enough to know better and a bit pudgy wearing clothing that is a little too small and skimpy? I had just returned from WalMart before I battled the troll last night...
That was after going to work out. I actually like going to the gym in the middle of the night. It's not crowded. Don't have to wait for machines. I just can't do it and work the next day. (and I need to head back out in the yard as soon as I catch up here).
But there is a woman at our gym, who I would put in her late 50s, early 60s. She's one of those harsh looking "society" women. Of course in Richmond, the handbag always matches the shoes...
She's not a large woman, nor is she petite. But she works out in a black leotard. And I swear, she wears a pair of white bikini panties over the leotard...
I just don't get it.
And I don't want to.

Hair mentioned that these rechargeable might be heavy due to the battery... Mine wasn't. It was a Sears model. Just try a few out in the store.
(We just need to get Samwise back so you won't have to do all the gardening...)

An ex-boyfriend, the one I wrinkle my nose about when I remember him, the one that still lived with his parents, had chickens.... lots of chickens. Everywhere. So many that his mother had eggs coming out of her ears. She was always trying to give them away.
I took a couple dozen home and got sick trying to crack three into a pan without there being a dead chicken in one of them. The experience turned me off eggs for a long time. Beware farm eggs when there are roosters around!

Not if you get one of these!

The does only grow to 22" at the withers tops.
From this website.
The Pygmy Goat is hardy, alert and animated, good-natured and gregarious; a docile, responsive pet, a cooperative provider of milk, and an ecologically effective browser. The Pygmy goat is an asset in a wide variety of settings, and can adapt to virtually all climates.
Pygmy goats are precocious breeders, bearing one to four young every nine to twelve months after a five month gestation period. Does are usually bred for the first time at about twelve to eighteen months, although they may conceive as early as two months if care is not taken to separate them early from bucklings. Newborn kids will nurse almost immediately, begin eating grain and roughage within a week, and are weaned by three months of age.
Feeding and housing requirements for Pygmy goats are modest: a draft free 8' x 10' shed furnished with elevated sleeping and feeding places will accommodate four adult animals. An attached outside enclosure with at least 4' high fencing will provide the fresh air and exercise these active, fun-loving goats need. They are very sociable and are happier in a herd atmosphere or with another goat as a friend. A basic diet of roughage in the form of legume and grass hay, bark, brush, and dry leaves [may need] to be supplemented.
There are 7 listed breeders in Oklahoma alone. :)

No, I don't want a rooster. Just a couple of hens. I like the crowing, but don't want to deal with fertile eggs.

You can't eat the children's pets Sam! You know, around here at Easter time, the stores used to sell chicks that had been dyed easter colors. I remember one year we had a green one and an orange one. We kept them at my grandfather's because, well, they could stay with the rest of the chickens in the coop.
I don't really know what ever happened to them...
To: 2Jedismom
You know.... one thing that the game dept used to do that they might do in your area is give away pheasant or grouse chicks to raise....
They give you the chicks, you agree to raise them and release them in good habitat.
