The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

I have an idea that reality undermines statistics pretty often.

I believe it was Mark Twain who said, "There's lies, there's DAMN lies, and then there's STATISTICS."

I'm celebrating by eating a tin of smoked oysters with crackers and a nice side salad with blue cheese and radishes.

Well, you know what they say, history is written by the victors. And since you didn't write the history...

Yep, we have those growing out in the garden as well and the bunny hasn't touched the foliage of them...

Might taste good with coney someday! Specially since it seems we have our own little farm going...I did indeed see the babies just a while ago...down in the nest.

No, the fat, angry hobbit did. I know that Master would have told the truth. No, it was the mean, rude hobbit. That ruiner of coneys.

I'se hates him, I does. He hurts me, he did. Poor Smeagol! No ones careses what ever happens to me. No ones.

I do love a game of craps!

SSQ's little sister loves to shoot Craps! She's a 'preferred customer' at a couple of casinos on the MS Gulf Coast!

One New Year's Day she was down there and there were tons of folks who were SUPPOSED to be at the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans; had tickets and everything. Instead they had come over to MS to gamble and watch the game on the big screen TV's all around the place. Word was, Bowl officials in The Big Easy got mad because there were so many No Shows at the game!

Blaspheming Heretics would be a great name for a band...

Weren't Jr. and his friends starting a band?

Theoretically, yes. He got his drumset last week. But since it took so long (waiting for his birthday), the guys in the neighborhood got into an argument and decided that Jr. and his best buddy couldn't be in "their" band.

Of course Jr. is the only one who can even play an instrument.

He's having friends over for an all-nighter in a couple of weeks (belated birthday celebration). They're going to jam in the garage --- on Saturday during the day.

I don't want to tie the group down if the general preference is elsewhere.

Don't worry about that! I have a feeling it will work itself out anyway. :)

We'll leave whichever park and head towards home.

You DO realize how exhausted you're going to be, right?

Oh yeah. I won't try to drive home on Sunday night. Depending on what time we actually get out of the park, we'll just head up (or towards) I-95 for a couple of hours and get a room.

My guess is we'll head for the Magic Kingdom.

I'm thinking my kids would like to do the Universal Studios thing.

You know that's one of the problems we have with trying to plan an extended vacation in Orlando. There's too much to see. I'd be happy just to stay at the Disney Parks, but if we're there for a week, Jr. will want to do Universal. And you should do Sea World as well...

But even if you stay with just Disney, there's too many options for just one week.

We saw the Pirates of the Caribbean trailer online the other day, then when I took the kids to see Holes, I saw it on the big screen! Clare was getting snacks and missed it, boy was SHE bummed! Looks like it's going to be a fun movie!

By the way, Holes was an EXCELLENT movie! It is that rarity, an 'appropriate' movie for teenagers!

You know...if that guy over on the pit bull thread really wants to win people over, he needs a major attitude adjustment. What a...well, a certain four letter word comes to mind.
