Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

I have my check to ksen for entmoot. I did not get it in the mail as the postman came early yesterday with a package. But, I am mailing the check anyway. Just that, if things really crash here, I may not be able to be there.
To: Wneighbor
Understood, but I of course hope nothing happens that makes you miss entmoot.
I haven't sent my check to ksen or paid my rent for that matter! - I am still waiting for my new checks! Eeek!

LOL!!!
I'm all over it. As soon as the funding is in the bank for the books (should be at least by Tuesday), I'm going to order those and then see what is left over. I'm going to buy some Tang for each box and some more Twinkies and the such. I'm thinking of taking them out of their boxes because I can get more in each box that way. Twinkies and Ding Dongs and such are really rather inexpensive.

Just got my check ready to send off for entmoot.
This webhosting thing is driving me crazy. My sites are up, but now I can't send or recieve email through my own domain, and I have to redirect everything to my Yahoo account, which defeats the purpose of hosting my own email. My hosting account expires next month anyway, so I'll keep looking for another option before I have to renew. I think I'll simplify and find something cheaper too. I don't really need 5GB of web space right now anyway. Someday, maybe, but not now.
I'm going to grab lunch and head to work. This looks like the last weekend they will be offering overtime for a while, so I better get it in while I can. (Gotta build my entmoot fund!)

Kraft makes Tang... Kraft also makes Oreo cookies and Jell-o.
Not sure how I was supposed to respond to that!

Hmmm...why won't the college let you work a side job? It's a community college, right? Around these parts community college courses are often taught by people in industry.
Oh...and the outside barbecue is off today, I'm afraid. Ran out of lighter fluid and we're on a schedule here. :)

Should we do more Slim Jims? Did they like the little ones better than the big ones?
To: Overtaxed
I think so...it looks like the little slim jims went really fast. This is what he said:
In less than 2 hours, the smaller SlimJims were gone! When I left for the night, there were only 3 or 4 Twinkies left. They were gone when I came in this morning. To say that the Giant Slim-Jims were a hit is again a huge understatement. Of the 4 boxes, less than 1 and a half is still standing.

I certainly can commisserate with you. As I now begin the process of budgeting day to day on less than 50% of what I brought in before (unemployment) -- the possibilities beginning to develop in areas that are much lower cost than here become just that much more enticing. And what's funny is those lower cost areas seem to have much better economies...they are adding positions and hiring while here in our depression-racked west coast town long-standing, landmark businesses are going belly-up one after the other.
But all of these decisions are so murky compared to the certainty of that which is known. That photo Hair posted of Gandalf mulling over paths in Moria is all too appropros.
To: Scott from the Left Coast
I think you should all just move to Tulsa. It's a nice conservative town.

So it looks like to me that the smaller Slim Jims went faster, but both were well received.
