The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Heh. You should hear me describe chromatograph problems...and car problems to a mechanic!

Somebody needs to go pull their weeds. Uh....um...yeah...you know...everyone should keep their weeds pulled....whatever....

It's been threatening to storm here for the past week, but nothing yet, and we need the rain. Closest we've gotten has been some bad storms out in the hill country.
I hate the looking part... just want to find a place and get the building and moving started, heh!

WN: well, can't say as I heard of Montreal MO, what's it near? We're on the SE edge of the Kansas City Metro area, 22 miles from KC MO CBD.
To: ksen; JenB; Corin Stormhands
How did you and Rose like it? Or are you seeing it tonight? We saw it this afternoon. In deference to JenB, I won't say anything more than this:
Wow!
ksen, yes, I think it was better than the first one. Corin, seeing the first one would definitely help explain many story points in the second one.
For previews, we had Matrix Reloaded, Hulk, and League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (another movie based on a comic book, which looks really cool btw!)
OK, I'll have a lot more to say tomorrow after Jen sees it!
To: osagebowman
can't say as I heard of Montreal MO, what's it near?Well, I guess it's probably closest to Camdenton. It's south of Lake of the Ozarks State Park.
uh, My daughter's grandparents that aren't my parents live just north of you. They're in North KC. Over in Clay County. Haven't heard from them in years.
To: Bear_in_RoseBear
Thank you Bear!
You may say anything you desire after 10 AM Eastern tomorrow, because I will be leaving for church and seeing X-Men directly after.
You are the third person to say "Wow". I'm really excited.
We just watched "The Mask of Zorro", which was not bad. It was quite good on the "see how many ways you can relate this movie to Princess Bride" scale as well.

You're welcome! I think you'll like it!
Was the "Zorro" you saw the one with Antonio Banderas and Catherine Zeta-Jones? I thought that one was pretty good!
To: Corin Stormhands; Bear_in_RoseBear
...do I need to see the first one before the second? No, seeing the first isn't essential. Basically the first just introduced you to Wolverine, Rogue, Cyclops, Jean Grey, and Storm. It also set up the Human/Mutant tension that develops further in this one.
HBO is having a sneak peek and the director says something that makes me think there will be at least one more in the near future.

I thought the "Matrix:Reloaded" trailer was almost worth the price of admission all by itself. ;^)
Jen, you will really like this movie. I am looking forward to reading your reaction to it.

Okay, this is prob'ly a real dumb question so you'll know how much of a hick I really am, but why don't you just mow over your leaves and make 'em mulch in your grass? Too darn many leaves. I have about 20 oak trees, each probably 50-60 years old (or more. what the heck do I know?) in my yard. I have no grass, or very little at all in the back yard. And especially with the drought, we had a lot of acorns and twigs that a mower just won't handle.

everyone should keep their weeds pulled....whatever.... That's another one of those "wear clean underwear in case you're in an accident" sayings, isn't it?

We had free HBO for years. Told 'em many times, but they never came to deal with it. When we put a TV in Jr's room and I realized he'd had it on HBO all night one night (and I checked the schedule which started with OZ...), we called and said "get it out TODAY!"
To: Corin Stormhands
Well, I'm leaving before I funkle twice in one day...
To: Corin Stormhands
You've got HBO????Calm down Master Dwarf. My sister has HBO and all those channels. I saw the special while we were housesitting for her while she and her family were on a cruise.

That's another one of those "wear clean underwear in case you're in an accident" sayings, isn't it? I can honestly say THAT is one saying I have NEVER used. But, if you saw that "UH" thread, you might think of something better to do than think up a new thread.
To: ksen; Corin Stormhands
seeing the first isn't essentialWell, not essential, maybe, but helpful... it will explain things like what Rogue's powers are; why Senator Kelly's eyes flash; and more that I won't go into to keep from giving anything away! ;)
I'd seen that Matrix Reloaded trailer before, so I wasn't as excited about it... but it is very good, and I'm really looking forward to seeing the movie week after next!
To: ksen
Calm down Master Dwarf. I'm completely calm. I'm just keeping you accountable. That's all. ;-)

That's another one of those "wear clean underwear in case you're in an accident" sayings, isn't it? Hehehe....yes.
Oh...and on the compost pile: don't put dog poop, or cat poop, or carnivore poop in your pile! Too much risk of harmful parasites or other nasty organisms growing and you especially don't want them near your vegetables.
Vegetable kitchen scraps are good. (Meat scraps attract unwanted scavengers.) Eggshells can be used but "they" recommend that you nuke or boil them to kill any possible salmonellas. Coffee grounds are great, earthworms like coffee! :) I just toss in the filters and all. I also put hair and cat fur in there. I keep a layer of dead leaves ("brown matter") on top to keep flies and gnats away from the kitchen scraps.
Depending on how much work you want to put in this pile....keep it moist and aerate once in a while....it makes everything decompose faster.
