The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Thanks, Bear, but those don't quite work. Rachel and Ruth are too 'nice-girl', and Tawny is way too far in the other direction.

Oh, I was always gonna come, it was just a matter if SSQ was gonna come along. That would have been the determining factor in whether or not we'd stay at the castle. He's not going to be able to take the time at the first of the year. He wants to save it for a family get-a-way with our older two later in the year.
He said he didn't mind if Clare and I took up with a bunch of strange people for the weekend! LOL! He sure likes the idea of that heated pool, though. I know I do; that's gonna be great to be able to swim outdoors in January!!

Oh, well...
Then I guess "Bambi" wouldn't work either...

My best friend from high school lives in Bellingham now. I came up there to visit her in 1992. Gosh, that was 11 years ago now. But, also, a lot of my ex-in-laws are really great people and I actually got along with my ex AFTER we divorced. And I get along famously with his new wife (I say new but they've been married about 25 years now) --- (and except that new wife is one of ya'lls classic flaming libs) So, actually had about 3 weeks up there and visited a number of folks that I really enjoy. Another one of my good friends who rides with the ministry I do is from that town where it's all German. You know the one. You live close to there. Starts with an "L". Just am having mind blank right now and don't want to get up to get the map. Anyway, good friend from there. And another couple from the ministry lives in Spokane so really have a bunch of friends in Washington. But, still, I don't think I'd go so far as to say Valinor.
Now, if you were to check out those militia dudes and tell me they appeared to be elves, .................. but I just can't see that one being true. no baths, i don't think they're elves.

I want a one or two syllable name, preferably starting and ending with consonants, that is normal without being dull. Laurel, Shiloh, Savannah, Lizbeth, Ginny, and one for you, in case it is semi-autobiographical, Jenin.
To: Bear_in_RoseBear
Nah, thanks.
By the way, you might know.... has Wolverine always been the coolest of the X-men or was that just invented in the movie?

Jenin is interesting, and fitting, but I would get tired of it too quickly, unfortunately. I have about a day to rename the character or she'll be stuck.... I've had that happen before. Once I identify a character it's so hard to rename her. Or him.

The movie version of Wolvie was very faithful to the comic book version. He's been one of the most popular members of the X-Men since about issue 100 or so, (gulp) ~25 years ago.
Oh, I'm old.
To: Wneighbor
Well, if I was gonna be able to stand the smell of a guy that lives in the woods with no baths, it's gonna be an elf.

Good, I didn't think they should just invent a character that cool. Although it would have been a boring movie without him. I mean, those other X-men, except Captain Picard, were kinda boring. No offense...

Lemme tell ya. I don't think any fragrance would inhibit my enjoyment of that one.

No offense taken. The difficulty in making an X-Men movie is that it's a large ensemble cast... hard to give every character interesting and meaningful moments. I'm very interested to see how they do in the new movie, when even more characters have been added to the mix.

Speaking of hearworms, I need to give Her Majesty her Heartguard.
To: HairOfTheDog
Isn't he gorgeous??
Can you imagine that dog just being totally ignored?? And then practically tossed out? You can tell by looking at him he's a big giant kindly sweetheart of a dog!
I MISS HIM!
