The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

What a lovely setting for the moot, on a beach, with a pool.I voted no on the house, cause I just wasn't sure how SSQ would take to being in a house full of complete strangers (to him), but if we could get one of the bedrooms, I'll see if I can talk him into an 'adventure'. He does like his privacy, but I'd love to be where the action is! If we have the whole house for the week, for that cheap, that may be an inducement.
I just don't know how much time he'll have for vacation, etc. next year. He just started his new job yesterday, though he's in the same chair at the same desk. This is the fourth company he'll have worked for at that site! Folks keep buying each other up! Hey, as long as he's working, it don't matter WHO writes the checks!

You can get flags pretty cheap at flagline.com, I bought a first navy jack from them.
Paint doesn't stick well to vinyl, so the tarp presents a problem as a substrate.

Absolutely!
I plan on buying as much food as I can when I get there so we can eat in most of the time.
ksen - is there a Costco around your house? I could buy bacon, eggs, meats, etc wholesale and have the dollar go farther!

I'm thinking a sleeping bag on the deck would be cool...or could we build a fire on the beach? We should find out...
Here's my plan for our trip:
Thursday: leave after school/work. drive halfway, or until we're tired
Friday: drive the rest of the way, arrive at Entmoot.
Saturday: Moot, moot, moot
Sunday: Take Jr. to his choice of theme park in Orlando. Probably one of the Disney ones, but not sure what he'll pick. Then we'll head home and break up the trip with another stop along the way. Monday: drive home the rest of the way...

If we don't get at least 10 or twelve, we won't do it. The kids don't count at all, and I would only charge for one member of a spousal unit, but ksen thinks I am bein' too fair. Certainly the more we get, the cheaper it is. I'm in wholehearted agreement with this system. And since we don't have spouses involved we can say this and nobody can say we're bein' selfish.

We're sharing the food costs too Ruthy. You don't have to buy it all!
But I think you've pretty much secured your role as the food coordinator!
To: Overtaxed
I'll just bring a sleeping bag and pillow and crash on the floor. Most of us have that same idea! I'll pass out somewhere between the big screen TV and the kitchen. *grin*

Hey, I'm runnin' (actually driving) up to work now. Will catch up on entmoot details then. But, whatever, you can count me in as long as we have sufficient people for the split as discussed.
Oh, and PS, I'm a blonde too - this year. I don't know about next year.

If we don't get 10 people we could always look for smaller castles. :)
To: Corin Stormhands
I'm hoping to be there as early that week as possible! Hair already said she's be there by Tuesday to celebrate my birthday with me.
I'm not sure what date through what date we'll be renting the castle for though. Hmmm...
As far as the food goes, I'll be more than happy to handle the menus as long as someone hangs out with me while I cook so I don't feel left out of the action.
That's why I plan to have the liquor in the kitchen with me at all times! Hehehehe!

No way OT! I'll pay double if I have to just so we can hang out right on the beach and party!
I can already taste the pina coladas...I can already hear Hair saying "Pffft!"...I can already hear Corin belching....I can already hear 2J telling the pizza guy to blow it out his shorts....I can already hear the whistles playing...*sigh*...isn't it a dream come true?!
