Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Cost of the castle place, depending on how many we get. You reckon we could wrangle the place for JUST the long weekend, say, Thursday thru Sunday?? How many were planning to stay for a full week?
To: SuziQ
They rent it by the week or month only according to the website.... No weekend-only rates.
So far, 4 HHDs are planning longer stays according to the poll at the yahoo site, and 9 HHDs are attending at least the moot.
If the castle place is all-week or nothing and a lot of people are interested in staying there, if even for the weekend, then even at splitting the week-cost, it is as affordable as two nights at seperate hotels for what we get. Certainly it is cheaper for the folks staying extra days.
A complicated pro-rated schedule could be worked up based on splitting it by the night (it would be $334 per night divided by however many are there on any particular night), but that would be a little stiff for the couple of us daring to come early, if there wasn't really a choice to only rent it for the weekend.
We will see how it pans out. Maybe the castle will work, and maybe it won't. Certainly it works for the singles and adventurers!

Well all, it's been fun but I'm getting ready to turn in. Have to go vote in our poll first, though..

Hope you had a happy birthday!
To: HairOfTheDog
I did :-) I had pizza and cake and we watched "Total Recall".
Tomorrow, now, that's going to be less than fun, we've got a customer coming in for training. Ugh.

OK - I have created *another poll* so we can really measure the interest in renting the castle place:
Look at, but don't worry about the cost table I printed above at 29924.... I think we will only decide to do it if we get enough numbers (10?) that it is pretty cheap. So you won't be committed if we only get four, I just wanted to measure how many want to rent it, because I think we will have to book it very soon in order to get it. *And that means sending them the money*.

Are we just counting HHDs as paying members? - I think we should. Not per person, unless they are seperate adults that would have gotten a seperate room.... My brother and I will each pay, for example, but we wouldn't charge for spouses and kids?
To: JenB
Have you gone off to bed then? - Good night!
To: HairOfTheDog
I voted. So far you and I have the house to ourselves...
Did I say that outloud?
To: HairOfTheDog
As far as splitting the cost, I'll go with whatever is fair. But I'm not sure it's fair for you to pay as much as I do for Jr. and me...he takes up just as much space, and 84 times as much food...
To: Corin Stormhands
HA! - There better be others, unless it is worth $1100 bucks to us!
To: HairOfTheDog
I'm sure it's a nice place, but I can't spring for $1100! We just have to have the security deposit and the $35 now right?
To: HairOfTheDog
Okay, since I'm up I'm going to go to the gym. That deals with the reality that I know I won't get up in the morning to go.
I may drop back in later to see if anyone has snaiged the big one...
To: Corin Stormhands
Well, food we will be buying seperately, on the spot.
I think that you should only pay for junior if he requires his own room, really. If all the adults who would have gotten an individual room if they weren't staying there pays, I think we will do fine.
I will get a good deal regardless, because I am staying more days, so it will all even out.
