Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

I know it's early, Jen, but I'm not sure when I'll be by again. Have a great one!

Well, photo paper isn't 8x10, it is 8.5x11! I thought of that when you posted them. But I didn't want to besmirch such a kind and meaningful gesture...I'm vey series.
Oh, and hello! Good morning!

Morning- promises to be a gorgeous day here. Very busy, too. Lots of work to do..
Happy B-day, Jen! May your day be relatively hassle-free.

Rose and I are watching "Manor House" on PBS... quite fascinating how difficult life was 100 years ago. I have been really wanting to watch that- hopefully they'll replay it when a) I'm home and b) there are no Red Sox games on. I really enjoyed "Frontier House" when that series ran and wish I could have been a participant (I would have shown those twits from California a thing or two!). Did a bit of living history work over summers during college- I just eat that kind of stuff up.

Rose and I are watching "Manor House" on PBS... quite fascinating how difficult life was 100 years ago.Is that like "1800 House" that was on PBS awhile back? I liked the concept of that one, but the family (the mom especially) drove me nuts!
I've heard "Frontier House" was pretty good, though.
Where does "Manor House" take place?

Good morning! Where are the rest of the early folks? Late!

I didn't mention last night, because I was tired, but I now have the grade for my religion class... an 'A'. The professor was a wacky liberal-catholic lesbian - but we got on very well, oddly enough. I guess we figured each other out.So did you make a Christian out of her? ;^)

Morning all.
This is the last class before finals for my Advanced CADD class this quarter. Students were required to do design projects and today they have to do a presentation as though they were selling their design. Hope someone thinks and realizes that you usually bring donuts and coffee when you're doing a sales pitch.
maybe some bagels, cream cheese, fresh fruit, a juice selection. naaa, they won't think i haven't been able to teach 'em that yet.

A guy from my church is a Ring geek (like us) so I emailed him the link for "Flat Frodo", FreeRepublic, and our Hobbit Hole.
He said he may sign up today and drop in on us.

Probably the nicest thing we could do is have a bunch of chili hot and ready for when he arrives. ;^)

Have fun, and don't spend too much money after all those sales pitches... he he he... don't think we have to worry. The assignment IMO was something unrealistic anyway. They were supposed to design a "camp stool" that is small enough, light enough and portable enough that someone would want to use it backpacking. Okay, backpacking for me is going for days with a pack into the wilderness. Hence carrying a stool is unrealistic. First of all, there is no "extra" space. Otherwise, I'm stupid because why would I want to pack more weight. And second, if I was going to add a few extra ounces it would probably be a food item. ie, peanut M&M's, beef jerky. Something like that. Or an extra water container.
Walking around the classroom and looking I can tell I have no real backpackers in the class. Or maybe not even any real campers. We're talking bulk, weight and unrealistic sizes and shapes on all of these. But, alas, what do you do with a bunch of city boys?
