The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

The master CD is ready to be duplicated, and now we need your help. To get the CD duplicated and mailed out requires money. Our estimate is $5,000.00 to duplicate 1000 CDs and to mail the CDs to the recipient. Please click here to make a donation via PayPal to help us complete this project and get the CDs to our troops in the field. We all need to remember though, that VetsCor wants to duplicate 1000 of these CD's and to mail them out to troops, that costs money. So we also need to make donations!! :o)
Just write to Neil E. Wright at his freepmail here regarding the Chaplan being able to reproduce these for the troops. The name I highlighted "is his screen name" here at FR.
I don't think there is any problem with that.. but I can't find the disclaimer on the site yet. I can't speak for VetsCor, as I'm not a member or on their board, just a fan!!
I could even have the information wrong! So just click off a quick freepmail to Neil, K? I don't want to speak for them, other than to promote this awesome CD.
FRegards, Vets

The next set of boxes that are sorta "planned" to go out will be going probably the 2nd week of May. Some people wanted to send me some funds after they get paid on the the first.
But I send out little items all the time, that don't cost more than a couple of dollars to ship...so I could just do that too. We'll see. If the timing is such that I can drop them in a care package, I will. If not, I'll put them in an envelope and send them that way.
They'll get there, I can assure you! One way or another. I consider it my calling of our time.

I am only coming up with the Golden Perch, The Green Dragon and the Prancing Pony. Can you remember the 4th? A pint sounds pretty good. The fourth would be The Ivy Bush, also at Bywater...The Golden Perch is at Stock (the one Pippin had been hoping to stop at on their way to Crickhollow). The Prancing Pony is in Bree which is on the outskirts of the Shire. Would that really be included???
Farmer Maggot's main crop was TURNIPS, which mushrooms as a side order it would seem
Fatty Bolger and others hid in the Brockenbores near Scary
The Horns of the Mark are blown each November 2

...my kids get hungry during school. Mine do too, but they're old enough to fix something themselves. Clare doesn't like to eat right away when she gets up. She'll work for a bit, then stop and get some breakfast, or lunch depending on when I drag her out of bed. ;o)
To: Alkhin
I'm impressed with your answers Alkhin. Did you have to look any of them up?

That sounds like Matthew...he likes to sit in a stupor for while in the morning, no appetite. Then he gets up and gets moving more gradually. Now Josh on the other hand, he is an "Up and at 'em" kinda boy. Ever since he could first talk, he'd blurt out "EAT!" as soon as I'd open my eyes. Usually I'd find him sitting in the bed waiting for me to wake up. He's like Steve. Matthew and I are alike in the morning aspect. It's why I was a 3-11 nurse for so long.

OH...one or twoooo...LOL...yes...for the most part. But I read the part where Frodo, Pippin and Sam end up int eh fields surrounding the Maggot farm, and it was noted that they were turnip fields. I had been considering the answer to the first one...proof one should always go for the first response (I had guessed it was to mark the center of the Shire, but questioned myself)...usually the correct one.

LOL!! I know! I fed Matthew before I took him for his choir thing, but I was supposed to have packed him a supper to eat during his dress rehearsal! So this little boy that is one of his best friends sat with him and apparently they just passed the sandwich and his drink back and forth! LOL
His mom is a good friend of mine. They homeschool too and they have TEN kids! They drive around in a big maroon Ford Econoline van!
They have a little boy that is Joshua's age too, so it's nice to have kids for my kids to play with.

Yep. Her youngest is 4 and her oldest graduated from high school about a year ago. She does have one set of twins and the little boy that is Matthew's best friend is one of the twins.
They are the sweetest kids. Matthew and Greg are real pals.

TEN KIDS? Aaaiiieeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!It actually gets easier rather than harder as the numbers go up, or so Mom always said! By the time Teresa (the youngest) came along, she and Dad had three or four live-in babysitters!
FWIW, she always said the HARDEST time she had as a parent was when it was just John and I (the two oldest). Of course, part of that was because I was a rotten little stinker, but...

I understand the concept of 10 being easier to "manage," probably out of a necessity to survive.
But you have to feed and clothe them too. Don't you? :-)
To: Corin Stormhands
But you have to feed and clothe them too. Don't you? :-)Yeah...but if Mom's at home to cook from scratch and you have good sources for hand-me-downs, that's not as expensive as you might think.
Beans and rice...lots of pasta...
To: Corin Stormhands
But you have to feed and clothe them too. Don't you? :-) Nah.... Bought clothes for the first one, the next ones just grow into those!
And I have yet to see a kid actually eat. I don't know how they grow, really.
