The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Thanks everyone! Yummy looking cakes. I guess the diet can wait till tomorrow, right?
And if you're out there, Happy Birthday, Rocko!

ksen, Whul Ah KNOW daaaat! But my fav moment from FOTR is when he is tackled by Pippin and Merry. "For the Shire!!! OUCH OW! My arm! He's got my arm!"

But if you want to learn a language just for the love of learning, you can't beat Latin. It is also good for those who want to improve their vocabulary, or at least understand new words the first time you see them. Most words have Latin or Greek roots, so if you know those roots, you're ahead of the game! We're using it to help the kids when they're doing the vocab part of the SATs.

Don't be too mad at her that he got heartworms. In prone areas, they need to have a pill every month to prevent them, and a lot of people don't even know about them. My vet never mentioned them to me until I asked once because I saw an ad on TV.

My Bb really has a big reach for the last hole. I can reach all the holes on my low G so I figure I'd give a Bb a try for $6.

corin say something normal guys say and get this out of my headThe guy who played Capt Steele in "Blackhawk Down" also played a transvestite in "Sweet November" (a chick flick Tami made me watch). There was a scene with him and his "girlfriend" all decked out in wig, make-up, sequined dress, and fishnet. Made me want to puke.
I liked him much better as a Marine Capt. instead of an elf.

I think g'nad is still out until next week. I'm pretty sure he's seen the movie.
I can't remember if he told me if he was in Somalia, but one of the prominent players in the events (and thus the movie) lived upstairs from him and Mrs. g'nad.
g'nad, was that the guy I met, or was that someone else? Can't recall.
And I only had one car bomb...

HA! - Sorry to disturb you! LOL, well you read my earlier mini-posts I'm sure, I reckon I'm just as twisted as Ian, just focused in another direction. I probably disgust him too. :-0
To: Alkhin
Yeah, that's one of my favorite scenes as well. The extended version makes it even better with Aragorn getting into the act.

It impressed him - these are guys about his age that are out there fighting for us. Jr. turns 14 tomorrow. I keep thinking we'll still be fighting the war on terror when he turns 18.
He's actually recently mentioned the military as a possibility. He's followed the war news pretty closely. It would make me proud.
But it would also be my job to worry...
To: HairOfTheDog
Yeah, but it's a big deal here...a really big deal. EVERYONE knows that you don't NOT give your dog heartworm treatment. And she knew it. She discussed it with me. And I reinforced it with her...she just blew it off.
We have horrible mosquito problems here. Everyone knows about heartworms.
She never even gave him his shots.

He's resting quietly after his treatment...in a holding area to keep from getting a blood clot from the dead worms. Argh...my blood is boiling.Did they find someone to adopt him or are they just getting the medical things done now? I need a fence on one side but I have a fair size back yard and I eventually would like another larger dog.
Smeagol is one of those pathetic lap dogs. She didn't get her egg this morning she will be offended for the rest of the day. I will be snubbed.
To: Corin Stormhands; g'nad
I think g'nad is still out until next week.Yeah, but I wanted him to have some mail when he gets back in. So he'll feel like we actually missed him or something.
Just kidding g'nad! Hurry back!

Several of my brothers (the one who watched it with me included) wouldn't be able to join due to eyesight. But one of them tried anyway...he went and talked to the recruiter and all that, who had him go to an eye doctor again. Doc basically said "Are you nuts?"
His best friend heads to Navy boot camp in about a week. He's a great kid...we're gonna miss him.

Oh - I see. They aren't common here, so I would guess at least half the dogs here aren't treated for them.
