The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

When was the plane crash?I Googled and found a bio HERE
Have you ever seen Garnet in concert? He sounds a lot like Stan, but less 'nasal'. He's a terrific musician; plays guitar and fiddle. He was in Stan's back up band.

I've not seen Garnet, no. I've heard some of his music, and didn't care much for it; as I recall it had a lot of drums and was much less "folky" sounding.

Thanks Sam, and everyone!
I don't want to make the hobbit hole dwell on the depressing, but I feel I just wnat to get this out, so you know what is bugging me, but don't feel you have to talk be out of it! - I will be fine. It is actually my care of her I feel guilty about, and I am trying not to dwell on it, but I did have a lapse with her that I should learn from. I didn't try to find the source of her pain because of fear of the domino effect. The endless list of things that were wrong with her kept getting longer and I did nothing for too long because I knew I couldn't solve all of them. Daunted by the journey and the many branching decision tree ahead (OK, fix this, ignore that, treat the symptoms of this, can't cure that) I took no steps at all. I put it off. In the hour that she survived, I promised her that I would take her in and have them fix what they could and find a way to eliminate the pain that had been depressing her for so long. I never got to make good on that promise. I don't want to feel bad about it, but I do, and will until I can show that I have learned from it.
Funny story:
Bay got three injections in the neck yesterday, one for the tranquilizer, and two different immunizations. These are muscle-shots, so they will sometimes hurt and get stiff like a tetanus booster.
I didn't even notice that his neck was stiff from them yesterday, and this morning when I poured his grain in his pan on the ground, he just stood over it with his head hovering about a foot above it. He couldn't get his head down! Not even for grain! It was a really pitiful sight! ;~D. I held his pan up for him so he could eat, and I tried to massage his neck, but the look he gave me showed that that was *not* helping! At least his hay is up in a high hay rack now so he won't starve. Right now he is standing out in the pasture, staring at the grass but unable to reach it. He will brave it, and reach down and grab some, then stand there again and chew it until he gets is nerve up to bear the pain again. OK - It is pitiful, but funny!

You know, I think of my mom and the poor poodle of hers...she did do everything, Hair. She did EVERYTHING to get that poor pooch better...nothing worked...and the poodle suffered all the more for the treatment. You remember that.
You did the right thing. It was a bit bumpier than you anticipated, but still...
Poor Horse! There isn't a horsey tylenol you can give him??

Yeah - there is a horsey-tylenol, Bute. But getting it in him and the upset to his stomach from it isn't really worth it... he'll be fine, probably by tonight. He is loosening up now the more he stretches down out there. He just had to do it a few times.

I think you did your best, please don't second guess yourself too much. I know your going to, that's how we grow, and if we are worth a damn, we grow. But you did what you thought was right at the time, and you will continue doing so.

Yeah his recordings are a little more 'rock', but his personal appearances were just him and his guitar; awesome!
