Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Thanks! Great minds think alike- we're getting the porch! :) But the important part is the land. I need space. Was driving in the area last night- quick trip to the vet to get perscription food (rip-off)- and was marvelling that it was DARK ENOUGH TO SEE THE STARS. Indeed a luxury on the east coast.

I'm drawing plans for a 'Williamsburg Colonial' style which we'd love to build someday!

We're in Richmond, where it's the "law" that about 70% of the homes built have to be "Williamsburg Colonial!" Ours isn't huge, but we like it though. Of course at Christmas you have to make sure you have only white lights, with one in every window of course...HA! Not at the Stormhands Technicolor Day Glow Holiday Extravaganza!!!!

Hello all! Sorry I couldn't make the chat tonight. We were doing Christmas with my brother and his kids since they were out of town last week. Kind of an emotional time, since I will be leaving again soon, but the kids were precious. The youngest even said my name for the first time. (sniff)

And since I missed the mushy stuff last week, I want you all to know that I am very thankful to have such a group of friends that will be with me wherever I end up. Best wishes to all for a very happy and prosperous new year!

I found some amber flickering bulbs to put in our little candle lamps this year. They look so cool! Here in NE, it is also de riguer to put the candle lamps in the windows if you have a colonial. All the houses on our street are colonials and almost everyone has these lamps. We have twinkling white lights in our door wreath and little white lights on the rhodies on either side of the front door. In the back yard, however, we have multi color lights as well as the white ones on the big tree we can see from our kitchen table! It is so festive.

I leave the icicle lights up in my kitchen windows and over the patio door all the way to the beginning of Spring because it is SO dim and dull around here until the leaves come out on the trees! I just change the 'greenery' that I hang over the windows and patio door. Right now I have the fake spruce with holly leaves, and next week I'll put up some fake grape leaves in a green, gold and purple color scheme for Mardi Gras!! After Lent, I'll put up some Ivy that will take me through to the Fall when the autumn color leaves go up. It sure make the kitchen so much warmer and more festive!
