Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Uh... did you have another storm?
I hate my lack of sleep. The voices in my head are singing rhymes from Winnie the Pooh. I need something.

No...this is from the same storm....I had a lot of tree damage. And I haven't even gotten to the snags that need to be taken down

Ah. Ok.
I'm still giddy from these books... I've been meaning to get 1633, and all these other things!
It's like hitting the lottery. Only I don't have to worry about Sudden Riches Syndrome.

You know, I love having a yard full of trees and everything. But, this tree falling during every major storm is old now and it can stop!!! This week.

But hurricane season starts in a little over a month!

what is the origin of 'pinin for the fjords'?It's from a Monty Python sketch in which a customer tries to return a parrot (a Norwegian Blue - beautiful plumage!) because it is dead. The pet shop owner, however, disputes that claim.

I'm off to get some fresh air and excercise. Till later...

I worked outside this afternoon too... Needed to dig the hole (sorry) for Zulu, and I finally got some inspiration for what to with the little place I bury(ied) Logan and Zulu. The area, though right out my window is not landscaped at all, and I wasn't quite sure what to do with it... was thinking of some shrubs, or something.
I had this section of rickety little picket fence that was behind the barn and pretty much junk, but I set it up in a curve and pounded it in with a few poles, and then went out into my woods and dug up a bunch of wild ferns. The new growth is just coming up now, and they should thrive in this shady spot.
Thought I would make my own little "Where the Red Fern Grows"! Then I nailed this old bird house to a post and will stand that up in the hole when I bury her tomorrow. I think it will look pretty sweet for not spending any money. I will get some tall hedgy kind of shrubs to fill in the area behind it eventually, the store is that direction, and I would like to block the view. And I will get some kind of viney thing that will grow and cover the fence.
Below: Picket fence, ferns in front to the left are where Logan is buried. Big crooked post is standing in the hole and will be stood upright when I fill it in tomorrow. This is sortof the view out my window.

Li'l old birdhouse

More ferns ready for tomorrow soaking in the kiddie pool.

Sorry for this sortof morbid dog-grave post, but this is sortof therapy.

Well, I don't have 'em up on a server, but my sis-in-law just sent me a couple of ultrasounds of my nephew (due in August). Such a miracle new life is. I'm so excited about being an Auntie that I just had to share.

I'm sure if that poster had gone to be a human shield, all that destruction would have been prevented. :)

I bet that poster wasn't even born during the Gulf War.
What a bald faced moron. I should have known better than to go there an try to converse with those pinheads.

The kid mentioned in the article...he'll never blow a whistle. He can barely breath from the smoke damage.
I wish I could just kick that little whiner's butt. Lord help me, I can't stand C and F.
