The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

My favorite past-time hobbies are ones which make some kind of order out of chaos. Like jigsaw puzzles. I used to do a lot of macrame and bead stringing craft type things too. I just need to be doing something while watching TV in the evenings. Especially something I can have after an effort, like a quilt.

So far, I'm just practicing the precision cutting and sewing techniques. I bought a bunch of material off the 1.oo table to play with.

Also, I decided that my first real project would be one made of old flannel shirts. I robbed the guys' closets for all their old flannel and cut them into pieces on Friday night. lol They don't need them anymore this year, and I'll get them some new ones in the fall.

OK, no problem. I place it at Jesus' feet and walk away, knowing that He is taking care of it.

OK - But you have to keep in mind that Jesus had much lower standards for kitchens than today. Water just springing out of a rock was good enough, and loaves just appeared when needed. I'd still call another carpenter.

But wait! Jesus IS a carpenter too! *grinning*

I know what you're saying, Hair. Right now it's been appraiser after appraiser, but no one is giving State Farm the numbers THEY want.

Both the jedis love PHBA!! I still maintain it's better than that Piglet movie!

Steve and I used to watch PeeWee Herman's playhouse when we first got married and would just be amazed at the innuendo. I remember when the genie got his hands and he said "I gotta go...I've been waiting a long time for these hands!" and gave this really funny smirk.

*Seamus enters the room, bearing great boxes of testosterone.*

Ok...now, who wants to talk about muscle cars, the shotgun formation, and/or pro-wrestling?

Ha! I remember that one. Mrs. Stormhands and I used to watch that too. One morning we laughed ourselves silly watching Pee Wee do different things with a huge pair of mens' briefs....little did we know...

I still get a kick out of the fact that Lawrence Fisburne was "Cowboy Curtis."

Love the pic! So cool and so true!

2J - Paul Reuben's "Pee Wee" act was originally more adult oriented. I think you can still rent the original Showtime "live" show he did...quite funny!

Somewhere along the way he decided to do kid movies and stuff and it worked out great until the infamous theatre incident. I agree the innuendo was sometimes over the top, but I've found that to be the case in a lot of movies and shows that are supposedly designed for kids.

I remember being irritated at the amount of "ass" jokes made by Eddie Murphy's donkey character in Shrek, for example.

I remember being irritated at the amount of "ass" jokes made by Eddie Murphy's donkey character in Shrek...

Donkey...ass...clymer...they're all interchangeable aren't they?

At my conservative Christian college we did A Midsummer Night's Dream. Of course "Bottom" turns into a "donkey" during part of the play. And the Fairie Queen says "Methought myself enamoured of an ass..."

So I'm sitting in theater class with our professor one day and I look over and see he's written a note to remind himself to talk something over with the administration.

The note said "ask about 'ass'."
