The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Now, am looking for a snippet of a delicacy to eat.

I was sitting at the computer about 5:30 and realized I was dropping off to sleep, so I crawled into bed. Just got up, and am fixing to make some Strawberry Shortcakes!

We got it last week. Our kids love that movie. OK, it's a little silly, but silly is fine, sometimes!!

HP2 was so much better than HP1. And Kenneth Branagh was a delight!

We just watched the first half of "Helen of Troy". I actually know what's going on. Benefits of a homeschool education, I suppose. Now my grandmother is finishing off the Bob Hope special. She's got another hour of that, so I can't get to sleep before 11.

I'm glad I don't have classes tomorrow, just school...

"medeival paintings!"

I love good paintings, as I suppose might be clear by now, but one of the things that really gets to me, aside from the beauty of the artwork, is the look into the past that we get from old paintings. It's completely fascinating, and even spooky, IMO.

We just watched the first half of "Helen of Troy".

We watched it here too. It was not a bad production.

Especially the scene with the buttocks that launched a 1000 ships...

Well, I was dumped for the umpteenth time and had to go through the entire reboot routine again. So, I'm just frustrated and probably need some catnip tea.

After that large nap this afternoon I may be up for a while too.

I am well into my Red Zinger though. I might be relaxing.

Ah. That scene. Um.

Those ancient Greeks weren't very nice people, were they? Menelus was cute but a jerk and the others were just worthless. And why the heck did they throw in Theseus? He wasn't in that story!

Oh, he was part of the myth. He kidnapped Helen, and she was rescued by her brothers Castor and Pollux, just like in the movie. Except that the movie only had Pollux, no Castor, which I don't understand since they are two of the most famous twins in mythology.
