Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Guess I 'm just morally averse to plastic cheese. Wouldn't a good cheddar work just as well? Throw in some soybeans for emulsifiers! Unfortunately the cheddar gets all stringy in my recipe. The plastic cheese is the right consistancy so you really don't know cheese is in the stuff but everybody wants the recipe. I tell 'em. If they make it they say it's not as good as mine. I'm tellin' ya, it's the Velveeta and they don't use it or don't put enough.

they told her she was having a mild heart attack and she left anyway. She didn't have time for a silly heart attack. HA! - I just love your Mom!

I think the spearmint is coming up okay. I'm fairly certain I have the lettuce, the spearmint and the dill. But they aren't up enough yet to know for sure.

I didn't catch that at first, but on second read...
It's that plumber's crack thing...
To: Wneighbor
friend - fried
--- whatever.
It wasn't french though. And PS, I might use Velveeta but NO french!
To: Wneighbor
I think there is no chance we will get the 'full' report! Will be left to our unhealthy imaginations!

. He's here for meteorology, southern etiquette and information on all things dwarvish - right Corin? Yep. And let's not forget Rude noise making.
To: Corin Stormhands
When you want to know about the basil just pinch a leaf and sniff your fingers. It'll smell like basil without even having to tear off the leaf.

Will be left to our unhealthy imaginations! check - i have that.
To: Corin Stormhands
And let's not forget Rude noise making. Sorry I knew there was something I was forgetting there.
To: rightwingreligiousfanatic; libarian; g'nad
Great to see you Vim! It's lonely bein' the only dwarf around here. So many rude noises. So many smells. So little time.
Brother g'nad is packin' for his adventure, and libarian has been scarce these last few days.
Always glad to see you back.
Thanks for your remarks about the other thread. I don't want to keep the War going either (unlike many southernors). But I am intrigued by the history and I have a great deal of respect for people on both sides. I don't think we can judge the hearts of people of the 1860s by the standards of 2003. Especially since in many cases, our standards are much lower.

Unfortunately the cheddar gets all stringy in my recipe. Mrs. Stormhands makes a mighty fine broccoli-cheese soup using Velveeta.

It'll smell like basil without even having to tear off the leaf. I figure that will work for the mint as well.
To: Corin Stormhands; Wneighbor
Psssst....technically basil - and oregano - are mints.

But I am intrigued by the history and I have a great deal of respect for people on both sides. I don't think we can judge the hearts of people of the 1860s by the standards of 2003.Well said. I also find that I am often judged immediately simply because I speak with pride about some of the things the confederacy stood for. Slavery is and was repulsive. Why is it that when I speak for the south I am immediately considered pro-slavery and/or anti-American? That is simply repulsive when I could not be more opposite either of those things.
ignorance. pure ignorance. and we can't seem to get away from it.

I am soooooo confused....

Mrs. Stormhands makes a mighty fine broccoli-cheese soup using Velveeta. MMMmmm I forgot about soups. It does make good soups.

Psssst....technically basil - and oregano - are mints. Are either of them emulsifiers?
