The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Maybe it could be improved by putting Cheeze Whizz on it, or a jalapeno dip. I still think the lembas cornbread has cheese and jalapenos in it. That's very nutritious. I've gone for days only eating cornbread like that.

or have I been hanging out with Corin's reading too long? Oh sure, blame the dwarf. Then get all indignet when I act like y'all expect me to...
To: Corin Stormhands
indignant?

You'll probably start to recognize the stuff as it grows. If you need to go to a website and look at the plants. Unless you had a prolonged freeze I don't think the cold would have hurt most of that you planted. Maybe the cilantro if it was up. The lettuce, dill and basil survive the cold fine unless it's freezing for more than a little overnight. My spearmint never stopped being lush and green for my whole winter. And we did have some prolonged days in the low 20's. But, before you go buy more spearmint, I can mail you some. I still have to thing that out too.

Well, at any rate, did it sound like to you that she was waiting about a half hour for the plumbers so she could turn them on?

An elf who cooks with Velveeta? Oops. Confession day. This elf cooks with Velveeta. And I have people offering to pay me to make my homemade bean dip (with Velveeta in it) for their social gatherings. Trouble is, I never have enough leftover beans to make it for everyone that wants it.... and you just have to use leftovers for it to be primo.
See, after that confession, Ruthie's doozey can't be too much.

I think that is what she said. I don't think Steve will appreciate the money she saved on the plumbing, but *you just never know*!

I used to really like Spam fried with brown sugar that would melt and carmelize to it.

Most of all, thanks for the axe- it was put to good use on an annoying lady who kept asking the same dumb question over and over. I like stories about ax usage during meetings, briefings, seminars etc. The ax breaks up those long humdrum periods.

Guess I 'm just morally averse to plastic cheese. Wouldn't a good cheddar work just as well? Throw in some soybeans for emulsifiers!
To: HairOfTheDog
Same here... 'cept Corin. He is bringing me no comfort at the moment! ;~D We all have our place. Corin's place in the Hobbit Hole did not list comfort. He's here for meteorology, southern etiquette and information on all things dwarvish - right Corin?
To: RMDupree
So sorry to hear of your dilemna. You remind me of my mom who is 74 and recently went through a similar frustration at a hospital, only they told her she was having a mild heart attack and she left anyway. She didn't have time for a silly heart attack.
To: HairOfTheDog
I think that is what she said. I don't think Steve will appreciate the money she saved on the plumbing, but *you just never know*! What do you think? Will we get a "full" report of the plumbing or will she leave something out?
To: My back yard
Sounds like being in an ER is what triggers heart attacks.

Ruthy: Sorry to hear about your medical difficulties. I have just recently decided to take the bull by the horns and get myself in better shape or I know I would be in the same boat. I get the same heart palpitations Corin was talking about and I was getting to my heaviest weight ever at around 200, had sleep difficulties and stomach acid problems, but I've started walking every day on my lunch hour and eating less at every meal, and will be a lot more active in general this summer. I started all of this about 6 weeks ago and already I'm sleeping better and feeling better. I don't think you can underestimate the value of regular excercise in helping to overcome a lot of stress related problems. I quit smoking over 20 years ago by gradually cutting back to lower and lower tar and nicotine cigarettes, (ending with Carltons) then cutting down the quantity per day to about 5-10, then quitting altogether one fine day cold turkey.... It was not easy for the first few weeks, but Praise God I did it, and you can too! It's funny, but I still have dreams where I am smoking and wake up saying "OH NO!" and then realize it was just a dream.... Whew! It's just a decision you make one day and stick to it by will power (and God's help). You can do it!
Hey Everybody!Check out my new corner office! Rank has it's privileges and can you imagine a better office for a dwarf than this?! Sweeeet!

Oh, darn, the image isn't showing, I'll keep it up in case it comes back. It was a great pic I found on another thread yesterday of a normal looking office desk by a window but the "chair" was a toilet.... The perfect dwarf office! Oh well, I'll try to find something else to amuse you with. Have a good one everybody....
Oh, Corin, regarding that other thread about Lincoln: You were treated shabbily and unfairly by that wizard guy, but I just didn't want to get in the mud over there. I have never understood the desire of some to keep the Civil War perpetually alive and ruminate over what might have been, etc... I myself have mixed feelings as I have a great-grandfather on each side in the war. One was Confederate, one Union....
See ya later!

I used to really like Spam fried with brown sugar that would melt and carmelize to it. Wow, I never heard of doing it that way. I used to have people give me Spam in food packages back when I was just getting on my feet as a single parent. It would have been good to know another way to fix it back then. It usually got cubed up and friend with taters and onions or cabbage and onions. onions are important.
