Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Homeschoolers paying school taxes. I agree completely. Of course in the best of worlds, there would be no public schools. But we do the best we can with the options we have.

People never expect somebody like me to sew and stuff. My wife always laughs about an expression her mom (and family in general has). If somebody makes an outfit, they'll say "She made that. She's so smart."
My wife does not sew...

We used to keep our Boston Terrier on a long chain leash tied to the bottom post of the railing next to the front steps. On her end it was clipped to her harness. It was just long enough to let her reach the edge of our front yard, and being centrally located gave her most of the front yard to explore. And a small chain is more than strong enough for a small dog.
If you go for fencing though, remember that while it doesn't need to be tall or strong, dachshunds like to dig! ;)

Sounds like we could have him in sequence and do the hand-off without the postal service for that one.Yes, I was thinking that! And after Rose and I have our turn with him, perhaps we can pass him along to My Back Yard? Frodo could see a good part of Texas and not have to visit the Post Office in between!

And it looks like we actually might be able to make it, barring any unusual expenses! The refund we're getting will get us completely out of debt and then every shift I work can go towards paying for the entmoot!
Now, I just gotta work...
PS: If you don't hit me, you don't have to worry about me hitting you with anything in the head...not a skillet or even a 20" box fan!
Oh, and don't cut in front of me in the lunch line. I grabbed a guy by the hair and bent him over backward when I was in the 6th grade for doing that. Teacher came over and gave me a stern look, but just held him down by his hair and glared back at her.
Got 3 swats with a board for it. But I was justified.
