Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

I was just wondering what kind of career you could start with those majors.
To: Overtaxed
I think you teach History and Literature, or write, I suppose!

Did you see Conan last night? It was hysterical! He was complaining that he didn't like that The Two Towers was so PC...and then showed the clip of the Riders of Rohan circling Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli. When Eomer says that about cutting off "your head, Dwarf, if it stood just a little higher from the ground", Legolas whipped out his arrow and said "THEY PREFER TO BE CALLED LITTLE PEOPLE!"
Steve and I just roared.
To: 2Jedismom
NOOO! - I missed that! - That was running opposite Kraig Kilborn and Sean Astin.
Did they do it with the little mouth-replacement thing Conan does?
To: HairOfTheDog
Yes, and it was so quick and well done that you'd never guess that's not what Legolas really said!
He also said he didn't like it that the helicopter usage was so obvious...then it showed the three hunters running and you could hear a helicopter chopping along and then it crashed with big explosion. That was ok, but the little people one was just hysterical.
To: 2Jedismom
That is funny.
Have you gone to see the movie yet with Matthew? - When are you doing that?
To: HairOfTheDog
I better go soon, my ticket runs out in just couple of days...the one I got free with my DVD. I may go alone this afternoon, if Steve takes them to see Jonah.
I'll take him eventually! It's hard to not take Joshua...last year he was kind of clueless about what we were doing, but this year he'll want to go. Too expensive to take them both.
Gotta go, coffee's gone!
To: 2Jedismom
See you later!
To: HairOfTheDog
Morning, Hair. Is it time to see Two Towers again yet?

Ack! I missed it! You are lucky you were up so late!
To: HairOfTheDog
He seems like a really neat guy. History and literature, huh? No wonder he wanted to do this project so badly!
To: Penny1
I was up so late because I slept through my power outage all day. Couldn't sleep! Patterns got all messed up again!
To: Penny1
He said something that is hard or me to remember word for word, but it was something like this...
He was asked if he was a fantasy/sci-fi geek. He said, well, yeah, I guess I am. But I am kinda on the other side of the rope line now, Heh... so I don't know where on the geek continuum that puts me.
To: HairOfTheDog
Oh dear! How long was your power out? I should call my parents and find out if they were in the dark too.... They ALWAYS lose their power down there.
To: Penny1
Was out from noon-something till 4-something here. Lots did lose power, and I usually don't. The power lines behind me are above ground though, and a tree fell across the road.
To: HairOfTheDog; All
Good afternoon all! I have a lot to do today but I wanted to pop in and set up some lunch!
Club sandwiches (ham, turkey, roast beef, provolone cheese, bacon and black olives - salt, pepper, oil, vinegar), french fries and cole slaw. ENJOY!
Talk ot you all later!
To: RMDupree; RosieCotton
Hello and see you later to you too! - I am tidying house at the moment... Need to clean my fish tank today.
Rosie, are you around? - How are you doing?
To: HairOfTheDog
Wow Hair...here on the westside it was like nothing happened! I see in the paper this morning that 15-20K were without power and one kid was killed by downed power lines...and my jaw just about dropped off the hinges.
Usually, if the power goes out anywhere it seems to get us, but not this time.
I'm in love with my DVD player -- so I'm glad I still had power (even if it was just to watch a rented "Panic Room" while my precious FotR is still on the way). I'm even buying a couple of DVD Audio disks because the sound is so cool!
