Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

2J - I've been out cybershopping for Slim Jims. Could you ask Renegade Chaplin iff they have any favorites or ones they don't like so much? I've found regular, mild, nacho, and tabasco.
To: Overtaxed; 2Jedismom
And don't forget to ask about the smokes!

If it were me buying them, I would buy whatever you can get! I have a feeling there will be someone that will like any of them!
I noticed in one of the pictures he sent me that they did have tabasco sauce sitting on the table.

http://www.adirectconnection.net/category.cfm?Category=48 I was going to order a box of each and then the 100 little Slim Jims (scroll down the page). However since the regular ones are on sale, I thought about getting 3 regular and 1 tabasco. You don't think any of them would wimp out on mild Slim Jims, do you?
To: Overtaxed
It sounds wonderful!! They'd love it, I just know it. Regular SJs are a sure bet, I think.

I noticed in one of the pictures he sent me that they did have tabasco sauce sitting on the table.I was watching a "Mail Call" segment the other night about the MREs Each one that goes out has a little individual packet of Tabasco sauce in it!
To: 2Jedismom
Okay. Now I'm thinking 2 regular, 1 nacho, 1 tabasco, and then the little ones.

I'm thinking...this time it would be fun if people wanted to send me items...like OT sending the Slim Jims and Wneighbor sending the Atomic Fireballs...then people could send anything they want, along with a note or card and children's artwork.
I hate having all this fun by myself!! LOL
What am I supposed to ask about the cigarettes?

I heard something funny on the local news this afternoon. Seems some college students have begun a drinking game based on the war reporting. They choose words and phrases before hand, and when any are said, they have to take a drink. They have phrases like "Weapons of Mass Destruction" and "Cruise Missles", etc. They call it BAGHDAD BINGO! The young men interviewed said they'd probably be wasted after watching for 5 minutes because so many of the same phrases are used ALL THE TIME!
To: Overtaxed
I think that sounds perfect!!

What am I supposed to ask about the cigarettes? Whether or not we can send them.... If we can do it, I will see how to sweet talk you into it!

Good evening ladies!
I had the best evening. My test was fairly easy, and my advising session was incredible. I'm going to blather about it just a little bit here.
See, I had to get scheduled for classes next semester. There were two courses I wanted, Principles of Operating Systems, and Unix. I could not take both because they're day courses and well, I have to keep down a job. So I went to my session ready to sign up for basketweaving 101 because I need the credit. My professor, though, understands the needs of his many nontraditional students (that's me, amazingly enough). He's setting up Op Sys as practically an online course. I never have to show up for a class but I can take the course. Yay!
Then we talked about grad schools for a while. He was very encouraging and said I was doing all the right things. I am now one of three students in the department seeking higher-higher education.
I proved I was independently studying, and we talked about the portfolio requirment. He agreed it was a waste of time but I have to do it anyway. oh well. These sessions are supposed to be 15 minute things, you walk in and get two papers signed. Mine was more than 45 minutes. Good thing I signed up for the last session of the day!
And I'm reasonably sure I got an A on that test. If I get all As from now on I can get Honors, at least.

That's funny!
When I was in college, our TV drinking game was "Hi Bob!" from the Bob Newhart show. Every time anyone said "Hi Bob" we had to drink.
There was one having to do with The Love Boat too.... but I don't remember the trigger!

There are classes about Unix? Just curious, what does the course cover?
