Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Personally, I like quiet. I know there are all different kinds of denominations, just like there were all kinds of apostles, but like a more restrained and formal worship.
To: JenB
...but I like a more restrained...
To: 2Jedismom
So do we. I have been to all sorts of churches but ours is a nice quiet liturgical type.

Good morning once again everyone!
I'm a bit sleepy this morning since I had to read the book my boss got me for Christmas in its entirety last night so that he could borrow it for the weekend. (He got me Bias by Bernard Goldberg.)
Now I can finally focus my reading efforts on FoTR in order to be ready for our TTT reading / discussion that is to come. I have to find time this weekend to use my free pass, but it appears that it is going to be a bit of a challenge to get babysitting. Unless, of course, I go alone and Glen stays with the kids. :)
*sigh* Anyway, let's partake of some morning culinary nutrients, shall we? French Toast with maple syrup, sausage links, bacon and fried eggs. I made some grits for our Southern Hobbit Hole friends today. Blueberry or banana nut muffins (your choice) are ready with creamy butter to spread on them, if you like. And, of course, the coffee is brewed and ready to serve! ENJOY!

Where are the pictures, 2J?
*grin*

You are right of course. I was getting a bit depressed last night is all. I can't wait until you have seen it!
I am going Sunday with my Dad. He went to see FoTR last year with me just to see what all my fuss was about, and has since seen the DVD a few times. He is particularly enamoured with the sets and georgeous scenery, and the believability of the scale work and other effects. He says... "How did they do that?" about everything. I like it when he smiles at things I really like.

Lutherans never applaud in church, of course... But I have to say that when we had the wonderful musicians at my mother's funeral, a Southern Baptist soloist who my mom admired, and the dixieland jazz band... they ALL clapped! - At a funeral even!
It was great.

Weird indeed! - Write down the IP address. I heard of this happening to someone once, and they could get in from the IP address. I know enough about all this to fill a thimble, but could that just be a bad DNS server between you and FR somewhere, that won't recognize a name? Dunno!

My DVD works! It was all smooth as silk -- and with the S-video connection that my 8-year old TV has the video (and the audio into my Bose system) is really incredible. My FotR special edition doesn't arrive until today or tomorrow, so I'm renting DVD's in the meantime...my wife is picking one out today (pot luck there).
Hard to get used to menus and all the functions, but I suspect that will come with time.
This is pretty cool. Guys love new toys.

Heh. I know how it feels to be the butt of a horse joke.
Good Morning!

Good morning ruthie! - and thank you for the breakfast! - I started my own reading last night... and got our hobbits to the elves at Woodhall. Will read more tonight.

I stayed up too late reading Hyperion. It was really very good. I was surprised how much I enjoyed it.

I'm at the same place as you are! :)

Good morning! I am so glad when you are on vacation and can stay up late and still have time to visit with us!
My view with Penny tomorrow just got complicated... We might have to wait! But this way, I might be able to get myself to Rivendell. I want to read the Council of Elrond again. My favorite part.
Its tough for me. I was tempted to Skip to RoTK first to get Frodo home safe before I started over. Since we quit the Green Dragon halfway through TTT, I had an unresolved reading last time.
To: HairOfTheDog
I'm just re-reading Two Towers now.

If we don't lose power, all will be well, even with my bizarro turn.
I'm supposed to go up to White Pass tomorrow, I've got a feeling the storm may change that plan (which means time to watch my FotR...err...if I keep my power that is...
To: Scott from the Left Coast
Heh. I haven't lost my power yet here, the lines are mostly buried.... I worry more about getting killed by a tree.
To: JenB
You started at TTT? - Or that is just where you are?
