Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Or better organization...I get so used to doing everything on the net that I don't even think of real stores anymore.
At least, I think I have the whole connection thing worked out (Now, if I can just figure out if you use the regular video-in connection along with the s-video connection that my TV has, or if I just use the s-video connection only).

I saw the theatrical release on Starz! yesterdayI saw it listed on the cable guide, but Starz! is almost the only movie service we don't subscribe to. May need to change that!
To: Scott from the Left Coast
Check with the badly translated manual. Hopefully you can decode it through the pictures!

Hair Threadkiller!
You should try killing some of those threads the trolls are posting. There's a new "Gay Gandalf thread" (although I don't think that poster is a troll...so far)
But in other news...Jr. and I are on the way to see the movie for the second time. Gotta run, I don't want to sit in the third row again!

"Gay Gandalf thread"Oh joy.

Okay I scanned a copy of an invitation to
The Fellowship of the Mozart Bowl
Here are the texts under the smaller pictures starting in the upper right hand corner and going clockwise:
Pinchas Saruman - the wizardly musician plays almost like the Dark Lord, but can't match Gandalf as a leader
Antonio Treedivarius
Ludwigo in his youth and later years
Galadriel refuses Frodo's tempting gift of the Mozart Bowl, but offers three hairs for the Fellowship's bows.
Lady Eowyn battles the Chief String Wraith mounted on his winged steed, Mussorgsky
Sir Gandalf Solti conducts the Fellowship through the Mines of D Minor

Quite clever.... Hope you can get a report back to us on how it went!
To: HairOfTheDog
She wasn't planning on going....just a bunch of musicians jamming all day. :)
To: Overtaxed
Oh - well so much for the report!

OT: since there are multiple transfers pending, are they sending you on scouting trip, get the lay of the land, Stilwell is in the south part of the Kansas City metro-region, good schools out there, you're right about on state line.
Lots of good natured rivalry living on a state line, the area is developing fairly rapidly, bean fields to subdivisions.
Few if any trees were removed in the platting of those subdivisions, just weren't any to start with.
To: osagebowman
They haven't mentioned a scouting trip yet. They just wanted to know if I would consider moving. I think I'll tell them I'd be interested and see what kind of money they're talking. :)

I scanned a copy of an invitation to The Fellowship of the Mozart BowlWow, whoever came up with that had a lot of time on their hands, I think! ;)
To: osagebowman
Lots of good natured rivalry living on a state line, Hehehehe....we already beat Kansas U this year....hehehe...
To: Bear_in_RoseBear
Wow, whoever came up with that had a lot of time on their hands, I think! ;) They had a Harry Potter theme last year.
To: Overtaxed
OT: EXCELLENT, K-State, Mizzou & Texas A&M are represented in our house.
To: osagebowman; Overtaxed
Big 12 country! Rose and I support the University of Texas... although neither one of us went there!
To: Bear_in_RoseBear; osagebowman
ACC here although I'd probably pull for the Russians before I'd pull for Dook.
To: John Farson
I'm glad you're enjoying Amber, John. I have unfortunately - or not, since I loved them - read the Dune prequels and all Lawhead's work. I'm trying out Dan Simmon's
Hyperion. If I like it there are sequels...
Hi mall, back from the movie! We had a good crowd. They did keep getting up but there was a spontaneous clapping at the end that has never happened to me before, not at any movie.

Really? Your other audiences didn't clap? - Mine did all three times I've been. The crowd at the midnight show stood and clapped. And they weren't just running out of the theater either. They were giving it a standing ovation!
It feels good to express approval, even if they makers can't hear it.
To: HairOfTheDog
I think I was in Presbyterian audiences the first two times, and this must have been all the Baptists!
