The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

You have to have PowerPoint. Unless they save it as a file type "Powerpoint slideshow".

I got it, It was a big file! - 28 K!
It is a valid slide show. It has lots of really neat very high resolution pictures of Navy operations, and some cheeky comments! (Caution, don't have the sound turned up really loud)
The message warning you got when you tried to open it only means your computer doesn't know what application to use to open it. Not sure why your computer is searching for an application, as PPShows are stand-alone and you shouldn't need Powerpoint. If you select option B of your options, "choose from list" what appears? Sometimes Windows is smart enough to figure out what might open it.
Perhaps there is someone who will see this who will know how to troubleshoot such a problem, short of breaking all the pictures out and sending them to you individually. Which I would do, if it is important for you to see them. They are nice pics, artistic shots similar to what you might see in a recruiting film. And the cheeky comments, well, they are cute.

I was flicking by CNN and they had a brief blurb from the father of the man in the picture that the little boy is holding.
He said, "George W. Bush take a good look at this. You've killed my only son."
Needless to say I turned the channel. I feel bad for the guy, but really.

Perfect timing, I just got out of the tub.
A bunch of graphics programs appear...like quicktime and WMP. But it doesn't work in them...

Hmm.... well, the pictures are proving harder for me to break out than I thought they would be.
They do appear to be stock-type shots. Nice shots of aircraft and ships with the sun setting behind them or stop-actions of missiles firing. That kind of thing.

Hm..Oh well. Rugerman sent it to me and I wanted to scope it out.
I'll see if I can figure it out some other time...I exhausted.
Going shopping for the troops tomorrow!
Good night.

His wounds are deep. I feel bad for the guy too, it is clearly the one of the darkest days of his life. He has not responded with poise, certainly, but anger is a fairly common response to sudden grief. I don't think any media should have taken advantage of his display as public grist for the mill.
There is a thread here that I participated on.
