The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Ummm...no. But then I really haven't started looking seriously yet. (Yeah...I know. I should start.) I did hear that Wyeth is hiring but that's a 32 mile commute one way!

On the KC front: They have a position that they're going to try to fill internally and after that, I've got a crack at it. But I don't really want to move on such short notice...so I'd better get hopping!

Sorry I've been out, but with the news side so intriguing as of late, it's been tough to spend my free time in here instead of nosing around for breaking news. :)

I'll be heading out early, so I'll say my "see you laters" now!!

Sorry I've been out...

Not a problem. We can order out a couple of times during the war. Know where we can get some good Spanish food? (we don't want British)

See you later.

Look! Camouflage Duct tape! All the protection of shiny metallic duct-tape but better suited for situations where one does not wish to be spotted by unfriendly eyes!

Maybe the guy who duct taped himself inside the capitol building should have used one of those tapes. Then the security guys would have had a harder time finding him in order to unduct tape him.

I wonder if it comes in an Urban Camo pattern......

I think the shiny metallic stuff is the urban camo version.

Very good! He must be doing more than one chapter per article then. Does the source list which chapters are to be read each article so we can know how far to read ahead of time? - I am looking forward to starting my reading now on April 4. I will try to get the others interested too. We talked out Fellowship pretty thoroughly already, but it has been years since I read the Hobbit, and we can always review it again!

The website where I get the Virgin articles from do show the chapters that are read in each article. The listing of the Tolkien Virgin articles can be found here to see what I mean.

I'm glad that you are looking forward to following along with the other books. I always thought the Silmarillion would be the least active/favorite of the Virgin articles, with more people chiming in with The Hobbit and LOTR.

Hey Corin... all. How are you guys? I am using a nice docking station for my laptop so everything is much easier, but I stole it from a coworker and need to get my own.

I was gonna hang out here last night after class but it got so political here at home I just watched Fox with my family. Tonight I have choir, don't have to leave yet, but I will be here some afterwards!

Do you think that international calling cards would be good to send?

I almost missed this post! From what I hear, the calling cards are a great idea.

This list suggests AT&T cards. I know you can get them at "Sam's Club" and I've heard before that they are the best.
