Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

heh.... My cable modem cord to the computer is going too. Every time I move my modem it panics at flashes like a medic van. The cord ought to be easy to replace!

But first my dad yelled "WHAT? - ARE WE TALKING TOO LOUD? - YOU COULD JUST TURN THE TV UP EVEN LOUDER!"

And my dad's lady friend said "Well it isn't like you haven't seen it before" (As if that means we don't have to be able to hear it!)

No sympathy from the peanut gallery, but they did behave afterwards.

My dad's lady friend is funny. She is grossed out by the few seconds of violence she has seen and doesn't understand why we like the film. She says stuff like "how gross! Those guys are ugly!" when she sees the orcs. Dad tries to ask her if she would rather see pretty people get killed, and that the bad guys are supposed to be ugly.... oh well. Lost cause!

I checked my recipe books, and mostly they have Grits in Casseroles. My guess is that what they served in Charleston was the Regular, Long Cooking Grits, and that they stirred them constantly during the simmer stage. That would make them creamier than what the Quick Grits would be. All I have right now is the quick grits. I'll have to buy some of the Long cooking type and check it out!

I put my mailing info in the USPS postage calculator and for a 10lb package (which is what these are, more or less) it's going to cost $14 for Priority. So, whatever $14 times 4 is...that's the shipping for these four packages.

I want to send the fun stuff next! I would be willing to send you some DVDs... I have my theatrical FoTR I would donate, and Minority Report. I can mail them to you cheap rate, for the next round, and some more money to buy several copies of LoTR books/movies.

Hair: great looking "lawn mowers" however do they come with "cut grass catcher"? or is it weed and feed operation?

OT & 2JMWas just about as warm today, finished up the rose of sharons, Susan dug an old one out and moved some more into the vacant place. We've converted the old tops into 2 bags of "mulch to be". Looks a lot better now. Clean up several planting beds. On the move shedule are the sedums, then bleeding hearts, missouri foxglove, coral bells, japanese toad lilies and the hostas and the misc remaining shade plants that are now in sun.

I'm so jealous reading about all your 'outside work'. It was a glorious 60 degrees here today, but most of our yard is still buried under snow! It will be a couple of weeks after the snow melts before the mud dries up, then we'll be able to do some work. We're not going to add any plants, we're just going to clean up some old beds and mulch them, then dig along the sides of the house to create mulched buffer beds that come out two feet from the house so that we don't have to worry about weeds and grass growing close to the house. It will make it a lot easier to mow!

I'm going to have to do some yard repair on the south side of the house where we had a lot of grub damage. I ran out of time and energy and didn't smooth the ground as well as I should have after killing the grubs and it is kind of lumpy and the grass is still sparse. I'll work on that when we get ready to create the buffer bed on that side.

I was lazy this weekend...but it was a bit wet. At least the thyme survived the winter....more catnip is coming up....I think the lavender has died...:(

Oh well....it's supposed to be warm this week and I have hostas to divide. I have a couple of new azalea bushes that have rooted....now where will I put them?

SuziQ; well, none of it was "planned", we lost the top out of a big hackberry last winter in the ice storm, it took till October to get it removed. Too big for me to tackle, left a stump 3' by 4'. Sooo. had to move the rose of sharons for the guys to take it down, we put them in beds for the winter, hope they all make it. We have a bout 20 in two rows in front of the lattice fence on the street side yard. Now the shade forest is gone, will have to do some shifting around to catch the remainng shade.

OT; I'm sure you'll find a place a place for them, you lost a bunch of trees as well.
