The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Finally I realized it was the bread making machine kneeding the dough on the counter-top! LOL

I hate it when I can't figure out what a sound is or from where it is coming!

So what kind of bread are you making? Is yours the kind in which you can make up pizza dough? Some machines will get it to the point where all you have to do is throw it in a pizza pan, put stuff on top of it, and pop it in the oven!

They grew in Virginia, where I grew up, but that might be about as far north as those things get.

Ok, it says "Daughter, in honor of your birthday, we sat down and began a list of all your wonderful qualities..." Then when you open it, it has this list of nice qualities, and it says "The list should be complete by 2010."

I swear, I thought it would be BLANK!! I swear! And I blurted that out before I could stop myself and Steve died laughing.

Then I said "Now look here, I've got it in writing...I may pull this list out now and then to remind you!"

It was pretty funny, but I was absolutely sure that card would be blank on the inside. Steve said he knew I meant it when I said "I thought it would be blank!"

Well, I'm keeping a hold on this card! It makes me out to be a real peach! LOL Whenever she starts yelling at me, I'm gonna put my hand up and say "Now...let's just see what the list says..." LOL

She was a little shocked I think, but then when I said that about keeping it, she got tickled. She KNOWS!

In one day's time, not too long ago (Christmas), I asked her where 3 things were and she told me all three times that I had the items, after I had given them to her. Now if you try to reason, you risk getting really verbally scalded...but all three times I managed to find the items, right where she'd left them. After the third time (and I'd received quite a chunk of grief over it) I said "Now...that's three times you're out. You probably shouldn't tell me something I say is wrong...because I'm always right." This struck her as hysterically funny and she was able to laugh off that I had showed her up...even though I did it tastefully, and even joked about it afterward.

That's the way to get through life...make people chuckle. It breaks the ice, makes them realize that you don't hold a grudge.

Except with psychologists in Sunday School classes. Give them NO quarter!

Hi all! I just had the best day.

My friends and I couldn't go bowling because the lanes were full. The miniture golf place was closed. So we went to see "Tears of the Sun". Wow! That was a good movie. And we went out to dinner and I got Emily addicted to one of my favoriye bands and we're going to see the Jars of Clay/Caedmon's Call concert together in two weeks.

My computer is still acting up, though. Grrr...
