The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Good evening and Merry Christmas to you Bear!

I have rattled about here for about as long as I can. I am going to bed. Tommorrow, I get up very early to go to the beach house. If I do not get another chance, I hope you all have a wonderful day. I am sure I will check in at some time!

Hmmm, in anticipation of the completion of the Trilogy and the Deluxe Special Extended Beyond The Extended Versions Version, perhaps we should be looking for a new DVD player.

As I comment on that thread, we would likely still need a second disc just for the special features. :-)

We're going to have a gorgeous white Christmas!

Isn't that exciting? Just don't get out there in your new red shoes!
I don't think it has snowed on Christmas Day in the 15 yrs. we've been here, but we're gonna get SOCKED tomorrow!

Got home about 2:30 am from Midnight Mass and the party afterward. St. Nick had come while we were gone! We each opened a gift of any giver's choosing and Clare had gotten me the Two Towers Special Edition Soundtrack CD. Unfortunately it didn't have the 'Elves Leaving the Shire' theme on it, but it did have the lovely additional music from the Fellowship leaving Lothlorien. I'm gonna love listening to it over the next few days, then see the movie again!

Gotta go fill up stockings for the morning. Then we'll open the rest of the gifts.
Merry Christmas, 2J and everyone!

Good Morning, everybody!

Hope everyone is having a

Merrie Christmass!

this morning. No snow here but it's nice and cloudy with a dreary rain that ought to set off the fire nicely.

Good morning and Merry Christmas to you! It's freezing here but the dog wanted out early...and I had to put his sweater on first.
Did you get your shoes?

Shoes? No. I believe 2JM got the shoes. I got my nickle/silver Shaw Low G whistle. We lit a fire last night to keep the elves out. Hehehe...

Elves don't mind the cold (I think they drink a lot of mulled wine). So I guess you're playing your whistle with wild abandon this morning?

Nah...folks are still in bed and I have to learn how to play the thing. I've got a scale down almost decent. The holes are awfully far apart!

"The holes are awfully far apart!

Sounds like you have the 'Horn of Gondor' instead of a whistle!

OT: Merry Christmas, sun is shining brightly, warming to 30 or so today, started out in double digits (barely) Samantha got her early morning walk, streets are as void of traffic as the ground is of snow. Now, listening to the FOTR CD, TTT to follow. Rented "Scrooged" and watched it last night, great movie. Will check in later, hmm. wonder when the theater opens?

We had a lovely Christmas morning, the boys got lots of LOTR stuff and Matthew got a 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle of The Hobbit. I'll take a picture when he finishes.

I got some towels and a bathmat to go with my new bathroom and a big bottle of lavender and chamomile softsoap.

Our biggest present was Steve's TV. I got him (us) a 13" color tv to watch either in the kitchen or to watch DVDs on in our room. It has closed captioning!!! Yeah! No more missed words!

Merry Christmas everyone!

Merry Christmas! We have about an inch of snow, just enough to make everything lovely. We unwrapped all our presents and are relaxing this afternoon.

I got a Tolkien wall calendar, the Nasmith art one, and a wonderful poster of Aragorn weilding a sword. Also got several book certificates, including a $50 certificate at Amazon!

The cutest thing I got was a dragon snowglobe. I collect dragons and this one fits into my collection perfectly.

The sun was shining earlier today. Now it's cloudy with highs in the low 40's. I'll start a fire again tonight. I've been checking out the climate data for Kansas. Looks almost the same as NC except for colder winters. We have hot and humid summers here with frost-free dates from mid April to mid October.

So far the family members are saying "go for it." Hmmmm....do you think they're trying to get rid of me?

I should have brought my DVD player. Sister's VCR got killed by a power surge and there's nothing to watch. :( I still have the bootleg FOTR on my laptop......

Saying hello. I was given, in addition to the Precioussss (I am wearing it on a chain, and did NOT put it on), the Evenstar, a Tolkien Calendar, and a DeWalt Cordless Saws-all!

Hello! We have dinner soon. Snow is really startig to fly, I hope my grandmother is not stuck here overnight. I spent the afternoon reformating my mother's computer and Dad has taken over restoring her desktop.

Speaking of which I think I need a new wallpaper to match my cool Aragorn poster.

Mrs don-o just may find one of those when we celebrate Orthodox Nativity in January. Thanks for the idea.

Vanya, my ten year old, the one with all the imagination, scored three LOTR action figures.
