The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Thanks for the poem. That's a keeper.

Yeah, wouldn't hurt to pull it out and re-read when the going gets tough, as it likely will at times.

It's actually pretty healthy that a 13-year-old could articulate that.

Yes it is. It is a very legitimate concern. Maybe if he read the poem it would help his perspective, by empowering him with the good act he will be contributing to. ( I didn't say that very well, but you know what i mean)

I have Bette's live performance tape that has that song on it. It's pretty filthy. It's also hysterical.

Fat as I am. Who wants to see a diva fat as I am?
I get mistaken now for Lanie Kazaan.
How is it that I'm fat as I am?

Try it again. All my friends say I should diet again.
That my fans are gonna riot again.
Look what happened to Liz...

I went to my friend's gig a few months back and the lead singer forgot the words to "Margaritaville". I jumped up, grabbed the mic and proceeded to sing away! My friend Debbie (guitarist Mike's wife) snapped this shot of me crooning! LOL!! What a hoot!

Notice the lead singer has that little hand held maraca (sp?) thing in his hand. I think it distracted him and that's why he forgot the words.

My rendition was a steadier tempo, with a more classical sound... imitating the acapella version performed by The Chor Leoni...

Well, this is Junior we're talking about. I'm currently just working on having him respect her.

(and you said it just fine)

Would love to hear it...

Though that guy's tortured rendition made me so sad. It is a heartbreaking story.

And, I won't mind her help outside. I just want the control of what goes where, etc.

If you can, try to make a yard plan before she comes, or see if she can help you figure one out!

Interesting about Jr's concerns. I guess having lost his Grandad last year, he's worried that she may go soon, too. But you're right, it is good that he can articulate it. Heck, I'd be concerned about the same thing!

I would do more Jimmy Buffett, but the bars don't often have it!

Are you series? Mr. Margaritaville, and they don't have his music on karaoke?

He was at my college before I got there. Must have graduated a year or two before. My cousin's boyfriend was Sigma Nu, and that was Jimmy's fraternity.

They often have Margaritaville, but nothing else! - Well, I am at the wrong corner of the country in flannel-wearin' grunge band land. In Florida, perhaps they have their priorities in order.
