Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Is it just me, or does it seem that Elves get (believe it or not) even more arrogant during the holidays?

I had to brave the insanity to go to the grocery store for a perscription for my dad. Actually if anyone has some spare prayers.... he's had shingles for the past two weeks and is now completely deaf in one ear. The damage may be permanent but we don't know yet.
Other than that we're all ready for Christmas. Still no snow. I stayed up a little too late last night reading Otherland, and with all the hecticness, I've had trouble getting on today. We are having an early dinner and then watching "A Christmas Story" before leaving for Christmas Eve service, so I'll be around for a little while and then gone.

Eeek. Sorry about your Dad's shingles... My Dad went through that last year! - Took a long time to recover.
Merry Christmas to you Jen! - I am wrapping up presents and wondering if the little snow we are getting is going to stick or not. If not too bad, I am going to go up to the beach house for a visit today! Our main Christmas is tommorrow.

Oh yes, an amplifier would just make things worse. What they need is one of those little things like they used to put in drive-ins, you know? Where the sound is fed right to you. Then you wear them like headphones. That would be ideal.

I did get a new pair of red shoes! My mom gave me a beautiful pair of red Enzo Angiolinis for Christmas...they are soft as house shoes!
Hello everyone! Steve took the boys out to get me some trinkets for Christmas...I'm not getting anything big because I was the one that wanted the bathroom re-done, so that's my Christmas present. I'm content.
We're going to have a gorgeous white Christmas! I'm so glad I get to check in with you though. I've done nothing but bake for the past 2 days and I'm still baking! Pumpkin bread and cookies.
My MIL bought a "Roast Beast" and we're going to cook it in the rotisserie. A nice 5lb prime rib. Cost a fortune and I can't wait. I love a good chunk of red meat off the bone!
