Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Now that Michelle is home, I'm so glad to hear this! This is the best answered prayer of the day.
To: Wneighbor
It is a very comforting thing to know she is alive. I spent Saturday night with my sister-in-law and other 2 nieces looking in canals and ditches, among other places, for Michelle.
The nightmares I had up until she came home were of the ugliest sort. I am so grateful to God for keeping her safe.
To: HairOfTheDog
Twenty years that house stood without burning to the ground. Proof that there is, in fact, a God?LOL!! What a great story!
To: SuziQ
And it is the truth. HA!
To: RMDupree
Well, I tried to say this a couple of ways and I can't seem to get it right. But, I guess what I want to say is that God did the most important thing for Michelle for the moment.
But, He's not through either.
When my daughter ran away I would never ever have believed that she would turn out to be the woman she is today. And Michelle and her parents obviously have lots of other troubles even though she's found. Your nightmares didn't come true this weekend and God's going to take care of all the other little details one thing at a time just when He needs to. So, even though everything might not be just peachy now let's just hold onto that same faith and see what God does in the next few years for Michelle. Lot's of us are trusting Michelle to God now. Let's see what He does over the next years. We all trusted God with her. He won't stop now.

You said it right. :)

Most of my stuff is sweetened with Malitol (a kind of non-intoxicating sugar alcohol) which has no impact on insulin, low glycemic impact. It is also called "splenda" and other names. When you first start to use it, you have to take it easy because it is a mild laxitive. However, I now consume a good bit and notice no problems. I particularly like "Twist" which is sold on that site--it is a chocolate/hazelnut spread a lot like Nutella. The ice cream is only sold in those little pints, you have to really look for it at the superstores. The bread has gluten and soy, which is an allergen for many but luckily not for me. The bread was a new product at Walmart, and is very good. I've gotten used to Irene's gluten bread--the German rye is good. Carb count of the Walmart "Nature's" is 5-7 impacting.
To: Mamzelle
Sorry, malitol is not a mild 'laxitive' it is major gastrointestinal warfare. Won't go anywhere near the stuff, won't bring it in the house. Splenda is a different creature entirely, it is not a 'sugar alcohol' (misnomer) but a reworking of the sucrose molecule itself. I haven't investigated why it's not used for more syrups and chocolates- it is a superior molecule in most regards. Ah well, guess I'll have to stick to homemade ice cream and other yummies.

it is major gastrointestinal warfare. LOL! Good imagery!

Never, never EVER eat M&Ms and drink apple juice at the same time!
To: HairOfTheDog
We could send some to the Iraqis (or any enemy for that matter) and they could just gas themselves and save us the effort.

Never, never EVER eat M&Ms and drink apple juice at the same time! Sounds like the voice of experience!
To: SuziQ
Sadly, it is.
My stomach still hurts just thinking about it.
The same rule applies for Doritos and chocolate (any kind).

"Never, never EVER eat M&Ms and drink apple juice at the same time!"
OK! It doesn't *sound* like a dangerous combination, but you speak with such seriousness, I will take your word for it!
Let me tell you a little story of when I was a just a youngun', just out on my own, at college.
I will try to be discreet.
I was having fast-moving intestinal 'problems', that I had not sought any medical advice about, but was trying to 'fix' on my own (as is my way).
Well, to try to fix these 'problems', I started eating bran like it was going out of style. The way I figured it (not knowing anything, in other words) people were always talking about bran as having *fiber*. Now, *fiber* to me means, "substance", "firmer consistancy", "structure".
Well, after more and more Raison Bran and Bran muffins at every meal... lets just say the problem did not go away.
I finally brought it up to my Mother. I believe she began with "Oh Dear!....".
I hope I don't regret telling this story. I know I can trust all of you to not take advantage of vulnerability.

Wouldn't it figure that Argh chooses this very moment to drop in?!
LMAO!

Almost as good as the time I dropped in on ValerieUSA just when she was discussing some problem with the size of her breasts. Sometimes, one just gets lucky...
